Because the first child of the first wife could have a strong hold on the father, meaning the father would not prioritize her children as much (e.g. finding the best husband, control over finances and domestic matters). She saw her as competition for her own daughter and herself (father's heart). This type of irrational behaviour is pretty common nowdays too when the father remarries and the second wife is immature/greedy. They rarely get along with the daughters from first wife as they tend to side with their mothers and challenge their authority.

I love your positive outlook but him saying to princess that he buried her alive was chilling. Also, making her unconscious (but not making sure she is dead) before burriung her is sooo cruel. Something not even animals do. I must say that they did a great job at casting the actor as portraying such a villain while still making him look human is super hard.

I love his diva pose. He is honestly acting like a sassy bad b** who knows she's hot and dangerous. From the red/glamorous outfits, to the seductive fan gestures and poses. He cracks me up and I'm here for it.

A very superficial comment but wow...they really chose very attractive and beautiful actors. Every single actor is super attractive. I absolutely hate myself for drooling over psychopatic killer ex-husband. I wish they had chosen someone less attractive. ;(

Another question please. What exactly is the ML’s background. Is he a noble by birth? Why does the emperor trust him so much? From some previews it seems that he has a hidden motive/background? I don’t mind spoilers.

Ahhh well I wish they’d followed this as it would make a lot more sense. His behaviour is that of someone who truly hates his woman and wants to get rid of her. But seeing from the previews how the princess will ongoingly abuse him, he will live a hellish life.

Open question for anyone who has a solid theory. I get that the husband felt forced to do what he did (although doesn’t justify it and it is unforgivable) BUT why did he have to be as cruel though. This doesn’t make sense at all since he loved her and could have, at least, allow her to die in a more dignified and less painful way (e.g poison). It was unnecessary cruel (psychotic type pf s*). I wonder of it’s meant to make the audience hate him more?

Interesting, let’s see if they follow the book. Either way, I hope there will be sweet moments before they marry. I don’t mind slow burn when it’s dine well (like in SOKP) and when the leads have clear chemistry, which is the case here. Thanks !

Well I’m impressed. I complained about his lack of emotions in previous dramas but he proved me wrong with this one. Acting from both leads is superb. And refreshing to have a more mature actress as FL. No babyish expressions, pouting or voice.

Will the ML and FL be forcibly married (and gradually fall in love) or will they fall in love and marry willingly ?

I was not undermining this actress and it doesn’t matter to me if she is getting popular (I don’t follow trends or popularity polls). I was responding to someone saying they purposely did it to make the FL stand out. It undermines the FL to imply it was made purposefully as if she needs it. Both are great but the FL stands out IMO.

Yes, I’m not even a fan of both leads but objectively speaking people can’t justify rating some other dramas (which I won’t name) 9+ and this one below 8.

Nah the FL is absolutely stunning and stands out no matter what (maid is very pretty too but definitely doesn’t stand out).

A lot of people feel that rating a drama lower will make their favourite actress stand out. It’s ridiculous. Dramas with popular actresses are always rated highly even if the plot is predictable. This drama is top tier and deserves way above 8.
