Exactly. I would sort of understand if the ML was a total naive fool who would act recklessly but she knows he is a very smart magistrate so not telling him makes zero sense. She could still support him and let him stay while he investigates who is after him.

I still don’t understand the FL’s rationale for not telling him what his identity is. I can’t see any benefits of being with a man who may completely change his behaviour once he recovers his memory. I’m also unsure about why people are saying he is using her. He just wanted to know his identity while she is literally withholding his identity while demanding that he commits and says the truth about everything.
Can someone please explain the ML’s background to me? I understand that he is not a mere magistrate but how on earth did he become so powerful at his age? And why are some people saying he is not on par with her status (seems like he is).

It doesn’t matter - she can’t pretend she isn’t married to the emperor and her kids are not of royal blood. That’s reckless and naive. No matter where she goes she wouldn’t be able to protect her kids and she can’t just expect the father to give up on them.
I’m actually siding with the emperor. ML should blame his mother for willingly choose to marry and have kids with an emperor. What on earth was she thinking- even in modern times a mother can’t just take the kids like that. Let alone royal kids. If she wanted a simple life she should have married a scholar. And the ML is being foolish- he wants to actually give the throne to his puppet brother or unhinged sister?!! Like what, does he seriously not realise that he and his loved ones would die.
