I just started watching more Chinese dramas and I just finished The Untamed and I have been wanting to watch another. The Double has been popping up but I wasn't sure and forgot about it while still thinking of my next Chinese drama but this article came up so I will take this as a sign to start. I have not the read the article because of potential spoilers but excited by your enthusiasm! ;)
Its not far fetched though. Plenty of movies or shows are shelved for years because they can't get a buyer at…
Yup well aware of many films being shelved or never seen the front of a camera lens - I know from personal experience.
BUT- In other words exactly what I said- everyone inspires everyone. When I used the word produce I did not necessarily mean as a film production or going into production - using it in the pure sense of 'creation'. We will never know the true story- I am just saying to ME that argument is weak. That's it
Look, everyone inspires everyone- the first we can say could be Battle Royale in this type of genre of films. However I have to say that the argument that Squid Games was being produced in 2009 against As the Gods Will is quite weak. In that logic then we could just easily say that well As the God’s Will came out in 2011 as a manga and then the film came out in 2014 who’s to say that he still did take ideas from the manga/film because Squid Games came 10 years later. *Shrugs*
Finally got round to watching this legendary Taiga and I'm really enjoying it. Watanabe Ken is so commanding on screen- I'm not sure if this is the role that catapulted him into mega stardom but if it is I am not surprised. Also a nod to Katsu Shintaro and his portrayal of Hideyoshi. I have watched quite a few Taiga Dramas about the Sengoku period but Katsu's Hideyoshi is the most powerful and actually scariest one I have seen yet. Also loved Iwashita Shima perfomance - also captivating.
Good drama but It could have easily stopped at ep14. The extra two episodes were not necessary. In fact cut out a lot of the back story of the two in the beginning of the series and it could help the pace of the story better. Overall an okay series.
I am yet to catch up on this show so I don't know how the acting was. I respect your opinion regarding the acting…
Totally agree with all of this! I have been watching Jdramas since my teens and Im in my 30s now And it kind of annoys me people repeat the rehortic about Jdramas/films having over acting etc. And when i look at their profiles it looks like they have only watched a few jdramas and its always the popular ones that are geared to the teens and early 20s. Not to hate kdramas i have watched and still watch them(started in my teens too but a few years later than jdramas) but i have seen a lot of over the top acting in them too. Another reason i tend to watch more jdramas is because of the variety in production, stories and sometimes its refreshing to see natural faces or at least have pores etc. Lol
There is a reason why japanese entrainment is the second biggest market in the world. Why the most famous director of cinema in 20th century is Japanese. In fact Korea, whether they like to admit it or not have been influenced by japanese entertainment. I know the original comment is not saying this but that kind of comment tends to come from this comparison.
I have one episode to go and I just want to get it over with. I haven't read your review yet- I will come back to it once I finish QOT but just judging from your title- I completely agree. It has been so excessive with unnecessary scenes. I waited for it to end airing before watching it because I know people like to overhype a kdrama. But when I saw MDL rating (silly me) I thought it could be really good. From episode 1 I thought I should just wait because I wasn't hooked by the story. I wish I stuck to my instincts and dropped it. Anyway nearly there I want to finish because I started it. The acting was great though
I honestly like the acting (actors did a great job), the plot overall is a great idea but my goodness the amount of unnecessary scenes for the sake of comedy or just back story dragged out really made this drama long winded for me. I found myself fast-forwarding a lot of episodes because of this- and this is someone that is an avid drama watcher and hardly does that. I just finished episode 14 and I will finish the series but I don't think it was worth the hype. Maybe I expected more.
