Well, i think its unfair bring it down to just because a k-pop idol was cast in it. Using your own words, I'll…
That is completely rewriting actual history to fit the movie’s fictionalized narrative. First of all, Prince Nosan wasn't just some "weak, selfish man who wanted to die." He was a but child , a victim of political tragedy. He ascended the throne at the age of 11 for god’s sake, after his father, King Munjong, passed away. Three years later, his own uncle, Grand Prince Suyang, launched a bloody coup, forced him to abdicate, demoted him to princely rank, and exiled him. He was a suppressed, powerless kid trapped in a ruthless political system, not a coward who "didn't care about anyone." Second, calling the rescue attempt a "rebellion" shows how skewed your perspective is. according to the movie thanks to the warden the child prince gained courage to finally stand up, yet you mercilessly call it a blaze of glory !! If the warden hadn't leaked the plans and betrayed the rescue, justice might have actually been served, the rightful king could have been restored, and history would be entirely different. The film uses the "saving the village" angle as a fictional plot device to sanitize a massive betrayal of trust and make compliance look noble. Turning a historical tragedy caused by a failure of duty into something "beautiful" is exactly why the writing loses its honesty and why I rated the story a 1/10.
Since when does the GP praising an idol-actor make them a KPop fan? You're acting like K-Pop idols never flop…
😒 I rated the acting an 8/10, so your "K-Pop hater" narrative completely falls apart right there. I gave the story a 1/10 because it tried to ethically justify cowardice and treason. Believe it or not, actual human beings can agree with a critical review, If you can't engage with the actual argument without resorting to weird accusations, we're done here boy.👎🏻

I also completely respect artistic liberty and historical biases; I don't expect any dramatization to be a perfectly accurate documentary. But for me, this went beyond standard creative bias and crossed a major ethical boundary.

Great question, Sapphire. To clarify, I actually don't think a movie has to align with my morals to be good, and I did recognize the craft here; I rated the acting an 8/10!
For me, the breakdown happens when the narrative itself loses its honesty. The story could have easily been a 10/10 if they just gave us a clean, objective historical drama. Instead, the film goes out of its way to glorify the warden's betrayal and frame a traitorous bastard in a positive light. There's a difference between portraying a flawed historical figure and actively rewriting the narrative to ethically justify their cowardice. That’s where it crossed the line from a "well-made tragic account" into something highly objectionable for me.

I think you completely misunderstood me. If you read my comment objectively, it's obvious I'm referring strictly to this comment section and the 2,000+ voters on this website—not the 16 million people you brought up. Hence, my review's title: 'Hey Koreans, I am truly confused.' At the end of the day, all I want is for people to rate these movies fairly. When someone looks up a title on MyDramaList, they deserve to see an accurate assessment, not a skewed score.

If you acknowledge that the script is 'not so high caliber,' then you are agreeing with my core point, A great performance can't make a movie with a bad script objectively perfect. If the 'high caliber acting' is being used to glorify a literal historical traitor, that makes the movie fundamentally flawed, not a masterpiece. The fact that fans are handing out perfect 10s and ignoring the gross historical revisionism just because their favorite idol is in it is exactly the blind bias I was pointing out.
My favorite actors : 1- Lee Sung Min 2- Lee Jung Jae 3- Yeo Jin Goo 4- Lee Byung Hun 5- Kwak Dong Yeon 6- Kim Da Mi 7- Choi Min Sik 8- Song Kang Ho 9- Park Seo Joon 10- Ma Dong Seok 11- Go Youn Jung 12- Kunimura Jun
Dear sister "Asianatica", I find your rankings seriously intriguing 😂😂😂—what an eye-opener! It proves just how much this industry runs on popularity, bias, and youth. It is honestly unsightly that a legend like Lee Sung-min was left off the list. He is my 4th favorite actor of all time (just after Shah Rukh Khan, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Denzel Washington). His acting in Reborn Rich was nothing short of legendary!
my list (slightly affected by my bias haha , sorry) 0- Kim You Jung 1- Go Youn Jung 2- Gong Seung Yeon 3- Kim Da Mi 4- Kim Ji Won 5- Lee Sung Kyung 6- Park So Dam 7- Kim Go Eun 8- Hong Hwa Yeon 9- Bae Suzy 10- nana
Crazy to me that Jun Jihyun isn’t in the top 5 lol
Honestly, she shouldn't even make the top 20, let alone the top 5. This is supposed to be a beauty ranking, not a popularity contest based on fame or bias. To be completely fair, if we're judging purely on looks, Nana is leagues above the rest of them even though she is not my type at all, well at least the Korean beauty ranking has a lot of beauties, the Chinese ranking list was ridiculous.
Hankiz Omar’s absence from this list is absurd. Tang Wei too, This is supposed to be about beauty, not a popularity contest, I shall add the gorgeous to the list
This film fell incredibly short of expectations. The comment section appears heavily skewed by fans giving unmerited perfect scores simply because a K-pop idol was cast in the lead role, which undermines the integrity of the reviews entirely.
