Huge fan of Boun/Prem, and waited so long for these guys to be in their next series. Revamp has been a long awaited one with both good and bad aspects to talk about. The original concept was like lightning hitting us all, and as suspected, GMMTV got their hands on it and watered it down to their usual formats.
I have to place all blame on the company, because they didn’t put any real money into this(even with CGI), and they are just not willing to take risks. How many superior BL’s have been made just this year alone by smaller companies who put effort and money into its craft. I feel like this could have contended with those easily, so it’s hard to not be disappointed.
The actors performed great considering what they were given with some stand out moments. Boun’s script and concept for this was just what we all wanted in a story, and I give him so much credit for working hard for this!
The CGI was good, and I especially enjoyed the crow transformations. I can’t fathom the lack of creativity in hair and makeup though. They all looked like they were in college instead of either dead or sexy(though Boun’s always that). The exception was aging Feratu, which looked believable. The action scenes were not strong, but I’ll also give credit to the actors efforts for their scenes.
Oddly, the vampires had all the power but were filmed as such weak susceptible beings. It was too easy to watch the story holes happen in the hunters overpowering them. This did not allow the viewer to feel any real power from the characters.
I feel Boun/Prem need another series together to showcase even more who they. This series was fluffy, full of feelings and not what you’d expect. Good for a light watch, especially if you like the actors, but you finish it feeling uninvested.
Having seen the originals, I could follow and piece this together. It seems like they just took a chunk from the middle of the series and tried to micro focus on that section of the story. But without any foundation to build it, it really doesn’t stand on its own.
I will say that I enjoyed the entire cast selection. I felt they had chemistry. However, it really wasn’t written for the actors to develop their characters enough to either showcase it or allow the audience to bond enough to feel it. So I’ll just say it’s the writers and direction, not the actors fault.
Incredible short story! These characters had so much depth and chemistry that it made me want a longer journey for them. Even without the length, it gets right to the point and has you engrossed from the first moment. What a great acting team up! Even the opening music was really good for this drama. It’s a 10 for me!!
Like both versions, but this is not better than the original.
The script was okay on its own, but if you compare, the characters and story really weren’t developed enough. They hacked away at all the content building scenes and pertinent dialogue. It’s a busy, lengthy story (4 character mains to boot)and cutting it down to 30 min episodes was too much. I felt a lack of connectivity with some scenes, due to the missing developments. If I hadn’t seen the original, I wouldn’t have connected it as well.
Not as scenic as the original either. I didn’t feel a lot of location investment.
Anyways, the biggest highlight were the actors which were a great pick for this! Loved how comfortable they were and their chemistry. Acting was very suitable to the characters. All their scenes were performed well.
Overall, I was entertained by this and think it’s about a 7.5 rating.
This series has such a mixed bag of elements to it. There were definitely problems here and there between editing, filming continuity, story and the rushed ending.
I liked the casting of all the actors, but wish the main couple had committed more to the role to show a better depiction of a real relationship. It felt like they called themselves boyfriends most of the time but didn’t convey any realistic interactions that could create their chemistry.
Despite its problems, it was cute and worth a watch. Always love Fluke and Poppy for great performances.
Especially to wrap up Gao Tu and Wenlang’s characters. I was also frustrated with their story arc when I read this. Although, because I read it first and understood more details, I’m not as shocked and disappointed as someone who hasn't read it.
The series was pretty true to the original novel, with it lacking details at certain parts. 16 ep is on the longer side for a BL series, but the details could have been explained better with 2 more episodes. I always believe, if a story is written well enough(like this one), it doesn’t matter how long it is, I’ll invest my time in it.
I found it pretty unique and enjoyed all of it! Loved the cast and thought this was a really great production and portrayal for omegaverse/BL fans.
The concept of this was good, but the execution of the story seemed to lose itself and focus on elements it didn’t need to. The cast was enjoyable, and Jimmy/Sea were adorable. They are really good actors and it’s a shame the script didn’t live up to them. Lots of elements in this that made me smile.
Really liked the second couple and was sorry they didn’t get a fully developed story. Would like to see them appear again.
The ending clip was just the best!! Thank you for filming this scene. I picture their friendship quite close like that.
Is it me or has Japan been giving even more restrained BL’s than usual? This would be a prime example since the kissing was just scary. Why would anybody think the lack of interaction or romance in a romance series would be passable for a show? It’s like they could speak to their feelings, but not show them. I’m all in for clean, cute and fluffy, especially with a good story, but this was a lazy written one with poor execution. I just couldn’t feel anything from this.
I’ll give this a 7/10. Sets, acting, cast, and story were good. The execution of the story was very glossed over with a rushed ending that felt like just a bunch of scenes thrown together to fill time. Some unanswered questions to the story as well.
I thought this was a sweet story even though it got lost in itself. The revenge part, while verbally conveyed to the viewer, wasn’t executed anywhere in the story. It focused more on the characters growth and understanding. The actors were enjoyable with good chemistry which helped me overlook some of the lacking in the writing.
I thought there were some good efforts put into this production, including a decent plot line. The actors seemed comfortable with each other and had good chemistry. It was beautifully filmed with some really great music as well.
The plausibility of the story took a turn however, when the main lead succumbed to a threesome with his enemies?!? I mean really, I’m supposed to buy that? Then, he would rather lie and break the others heart with a cruel breakup than confessing? At that point he deserved everything he had coming to him.
The ending was a little ambiguous, I just assumed the other lead died, unless there is a special ep to clarify. I also thought there was a lack of solid conclusions to the other characters which bothered me. Worth a watch though and there’s definitely constant displays of eye candy!!!
Just rewatched the original clip of this, and Ohm/Fluke really had the chemistry. They pulled me in to want to watch, and it seemed Ohm would finally have a suitable pairing since the last Fluke. I’m sorry but (in my opinion) Ohm/Poon have zero chemistry(though they may be fine actors), so now I fear this series doesn’t stand a chance. Just because an actor is available for work doesn’t mean they should be thrown in/paired as a lead just because. It would be nice to understand why career wise, Fluke made the choice to turn down a lead role for some minor role, because I’m rooting for him to finally get to stand out. (Or maybe Fluke didn’t have a choice?)
Love Boun/Prem and I will watch this and reserve final judgement til then.
However, based on the trailer(compared to the original) this shows tone seems to have done a complete 180. The side vamp cast seems weak, the tone is rom/com, sexy vampire looks are OUT, everyone is dressed like they are in college and the makeup is wrong/completely different from original concept.
Side note: AJ and JJ look the best in this!
It really APPEARS like GMMTV took their axe to this and fit it into their cookie cutter format. Geez, take a risk on a plot like this and produce something grown up like Bangkok Boy, KinnPorsche, Reset etc…
All I can do is hope I’m wrong. It’s been way too long since we saw Boun/Prem and I already feel like GMMTV has wasted their pairing power since picking them up.
I hope this comes out better for them than the remake of LITA. That cast and script didn’t even hold a candle to the Thai one. It will be a tough sell (especially this soon) since the originals were sssoooooo good!
I really enjoyed this series. It seemed to have a slow start but quickly gained its momentum and led a simple yet pleasing storyline. The leads had good chemistry that felt very authentic and their interactions were seamless. I smiled at the silliness and cried at some of the romance which there is plenty of. Overall an easy going and pleasant watch.
I really love the characters, actors and story concept of this series. Because of this, I was hoping for a lot more than it delivered. There was just too much story for them to work with in one extra season, and I felt like all the storylines I wanted ended up weakly written.
Babe and Charlie had their big story in the first season, so I wanted everyone else’s. Kim/Kenta, North/Sonic, Pete/Way’s twin. They could have focused heavily on their relationships, but they didn’t. They were mostly watered down or left open. I really feel like there are spin off potentials here, and would watch for more complete stories on all of them.
Some of the story was non sensical, and some of the dialogue was wasteful, but I was still entertained by it. Love the racing, acting, friendship dynamics, and the addition of Willy’s character .
Loved this! Kept me wanting the rest of the story the whole time. Higher budgeted series and it shows. Most of the acting was really good. Too many loose ends for that ending though. Certain characters or points in the story were wrapped up too neatly or quickly, so it didn’t make any sense. Other parts had no conclusion at all. After The Only One situation I’m not going to bank on a S2, but I’ll be the first one watching if it airs!!

I am loving this story and its execution otherwise. It has me completely intrigued. If they keep this pace up it will be outstanding!!
