There is plenty of romantic progress, it is just a slow burn. Not to mention out main couple is kind of in a bind because of that non-disclosure contract she had to sign. Basically she cannot have a relationship with the male lead until the contract ends or they have to pay a lot of money. That was how I understood it, anyway. This show is honestly frustrating for other reasons that do nit involve the slow burn romance...

But Because of You was such a tedious makjang-fest. *shudder*. I worry this one will be too.

I feel like the more episodes an Asian drama has, the more makjang AF it is. This one, the synopsis alone makes me wary, much as I like Deng Lun, heh.

Several episodes coming out each week...probably how the licensing to netflix was done. It is still faster to see it on netflix, unless you know mandarin. Netflix and Viki both have to episode 12, but only Netflix has them all subbed. When they hit on netflix they hit presubbed, Viki has volunteer subbers so you have to wait. I never mind waiting, but in this instance, if I do not have to, I won’t.

Well from the synopsis of the movie (have not seen it) it spans years of time, so I can easily see how they can draw that out into a series. Might even improve the story a bit by having more time to explain things.

Episodes 13-20 will come out on Nov. 8 on Netflix.

Am 7 episodes in and am wondering what show the synopsis is talking about since it does not sound like this one.

I think Han Sheng got off sooo easy in this, lol. I mean he betrayed the whole brotherhood thing. Even his dad got off super easy. He himself had wanted his son as the leader and not Zi Feng. Never mind that Zi Feng seemed to be a strong, competent leader. I just felt they really overlooked how shitty Han Sheng and his dad were.

Yeah, he knew then, but he had already fallen in love with her thinking she was a guy before that.

Yeah, that sounds about how the Japanese version went, but it was more condensed. I had to put a hold on watching it because I was getting so sickened by her editor friend who was his model agent. She was just so manipulative it was gross.

Yeah, the Japanese one had so much of the romance implied and then the end felt rushed and so it was kind of meh. I am hoping this one does a little better with the ending since they have more episodes to work with.

I saw the Japanese version and was kind of meh about it, so was hoping that with more episodes in this one it might be a little better. Am at least hoping it has a better ending. At least there will be some character growth, if it follows the Japanese one anyway.

Wtf? Lose my chill? When did I? I even said his reaction was a bit over the top but I understood it. I was just saying it did not seem weird to me when he got upset. Many people do not like having their photo taken unsolicited, and she kept pushing him even after he said no. That would make me mad too...it would make any normal person mad, lol. Though I would not have broken her personal property...that was totally over the line for sure.

It is more than similar, it is basically a more fleshed out version of Pretty Proofreader. So much of the scenarios are the same.

He is, but even sweet and nice people can get angry when their privacy and personal space is breached, heh.

The male lead was pushed into being a model, did you not hear him repeatedly say he did not want to be one and was not interested? When he does finally decide to do it it is out of desperation. His initial reluctance makes complete sense. By episode 8 he has already started to change, so has the female lead. I am on episode 9 currently, but if this follows how the Japanese one did, there will be character growth. As far as the female lead goes, I never said a thing about her contacting the author, I just said I could see why she was frustrated with being put in a position she was neither interested in nor trained for. By your logic, no one should ever complain about their job and should just stfu and do the work, whether they know how to do it or not. This seems ridiculous to me. Frankly I am wondering why they would allow someone completely untrained to do a job like that and then expect them to know everything from the get go. This goes for the male lead too. I was shocked that they just threw him in there and expected him to know how to be a model right away, lol. I also didn’t think magazine editors had so much control over the models like that, but the Japanese version was the same.

I do agree that the editor’s job is to contact the author, but it looks like in this scenario they are almost treating the proofreaders as editors. The Japanese version was the same, so I am guessing this is how the original story is as well. Of course that is a moot point since I wasn’t really talking about that in my previous post anyway, lol. I am not exactly sure why you brought it up as a point of contention with my comment...

It is so funny to me that when a male lead acts the same way, people seem to LOVE it. But if a female lead does it, she is awful. Lol.

Are you kidding me? 2nd FML was the rude one. She was completely rude, snapping photos of a stranger then trying to push him into modeling. He was a bit over the top, but I got his negative reaction.

Well, since these are two people shoved into jobs they were neither interested in nor even knowledgeable about, it is completely normal that they are disgruntled. Neither one chose those careers, anyone that has had this kind of thing happen would feel the same. I did not see anything wrong with how they reacted to it. The male lead never, ever wanted to be a model and only did so out of desperation. The female lead was coerced into her role. Again, I think their reactions are completely normal.
