From what I remember, the story starts with a woman who transmigrated into a book where an unpopular second female character dies. The woman basically takes over her body. Having read the book, she knows the identity of those who killed her and tries her best to not die again- she is terrified of the madman, who happens to be the ml. As the story progresses, the ml falls in love with this new version of the second female character. The fl starts to fall in love too but there are more to this story and the ml is no hero at all.

She doesn’t remember him because she never saw his face. From what I understand from reading the comments, he always wore a mask and had a scar. Even his voice is different hence why she can’t remember.
This drama has got me thinking…what did ladies in ancient times do when they have madmen with unlimited ressources and connections stalking them. :/
