If you were answering the interviewer's question, had no idea of the negative aspects of your great grandfather's life and, once you found out, wrote a sincere apology, then I certainly would not hold it against you.

That is her situation, so you trying to actively cancel her are the one in the wrong. You may certainly feel however you feel, but it is your actions that are the issue.

Then harass them....ah right, they died 99 & 47 years ago. If you feel so strongly about wrongs committed a century ago, become an activist and work with the Korean gov to enact legislation to fairly address the issue across the entire nation.

Harassing a talented actress that has worked her way up thru the industry and wanting to cancel just her says a lot more about you than it does her.

I keep seeing people post about her 'generational wealth'...please provide some details on exactly how much generational wealth she has inherited...or is it merely supposition that her current family's wealth is all inherited. And even if she did benefit, how is that her fault? She did not choose to be born into this family. She certainly did not 'buy' her acting success...that has come from hard work and talent.

Also, there is a difference between a denial and a coverup. Her agency issued a denial about the initial allegations. Obviously, it was prematurely issued and wrong but it wasn't a coverup. I don't know what happened but the plausible explanation for it is either the agency had a knee-jerk reaction and issued it before checking or they did ask and Ha Young denied it because she'd never heard anything of the sort....and it is natural to not believe something of this sort concerning an ancestor when you'd only heard good things about them. Especially considering the amount of misinformation that is released daily on social media about celebrities. That something actually turns out to be true is the actual rarity.

Finally, there is a BIG difference between 'not supporting' and actively trying to destroy someone's career.

And how exactly is Ha Young a 'traitor'?

There is a difference between 'bragging' and answering a question 'proudly'. I've yet to see any evidence that she was aware of her family's dark past so being proud of her ancestor's positive accomplishments makes sense when responding to a question. And this is the first that I've heard someone claim she has bragged about her family's generation wealth...all I've seen was her appearance on that cooking show where her parent's wealth was highlighted.

I have yet to see anyone provide evidence of her doing anything wrong. The hate being spewed at her does nothing to correct any of the terrible wrongs of the past - all it is doing is creating another victim.

I wish her the best, hope she can get thru this and that she is allowed to use her talent to shine in future roles.

Agree....especially considering that after Eun-sae completely accepted the lie, she wanted them to sleep together (assuming that was their norm since they'd supposedly been together for 2 years)...the scenes where he deflects the requests so as not to take advantage of her were quite amusing.

No idea. I really enjoyed it and thought it has been one of the better releases this year. Great acting; decent, consistent story with a very good twist (that has good foreshadowing); decent action/comedy/romance and provides plenty of time at the end for a good ending (instead of the rushed endings that so many have had recently). And I think their chemistry was great. Overall, easily in the top 3 I've seen this year.

This is total BS. First, you should get your facts straight. It was her Grandfather (NOT Father) that was stationed at Sorokdo for a few years when Human Rights violations occurred against Hansen disease patients. But I have seen NO evidence that he personally participated in any of these activities...can you cite any evidence to support your statement?

And he died about 14 years before she was born so all she would have known about him is likely from family discussions. Even if (BIG IF until you can prove otherwise) he had participated, I doubt that would have been part of those discussions.

And comparing her great grandfather to Hilter is a nice example of hyperbole. Do you have any evidence he was considered a major collaborator or otherwise appears in any Korean education material such that she should have known that aspect of his life? He died almost 70 years before she was born and I doubt was a major part of any family discussions other than to mention his positive accomplishments.

So being ignorant of something that no one could have expected you to know seems like a valid excuse to any reasonable person.

I agree with everything you said up until the end...even if her family did benefit somehow, unless she directly has done something wrong due to that benefit, why should she be punished. She had no choice over the family she was born into.

I imagine every person alive has some ancestor that has done something wrong that ended up benefitting their descendants - thus we are all guilty.

He died almost 70 yrs before she was born and I imagine her great grandfather's negative actions were NOT something bragged about over family dinner. Do you know every detail about the life of your great grandparents?

So she should be punished because she was lucky enough to be born into a family in the medical profession and thus was likely upper-middle class? Her great grandfather (who died almost 70 years before she was born) was controversial but there is no evidence that her grandfather was involved in any of the abuses at the Sorokdo clinic during the 3 years he was there....and he died 14 years before she was born.

I doubt she was even aware of the controversies surrounding either of them and had only heard stories of how her family had a long medical background....which is what she mentioned in the interview.

I have no issue with people being held accountable for their own actions but they should not be canceled for the actions of others or for innocent (non-malicious) comments they make that are twisted out of context and intention.

I've really enjoyed her work in Our Sticky Love, Teach You a Lesson and Trauma Code - I really hope, for once, that her apology is accepted and she is allowed to continue doing great work making KDramas.

I am a little confused by all of the reviews and discussion threads calling this a great 'green flag' romance. You could easily take the scenes of them alone together thru ep8, add some different background music and turn this into a predation suspense thriller. During his pursuit, he is constantly invading her personal space even though she is clearly uncomfortable, when she first goes to visit him at his school and he begins making moves on her, she interrupts saying she better book a hotel room before they are gone – he counters with wanting her to stay with him and that '..nothing will happen..' (says every predator ever). This is on top of him being ill and her having her debut international tournament quickly coming up where getting sick at this time would be a disaster. And I found his constant stares more predatory than romantic...especially considering he is 6 years older than her. The writers almost seemed to realize this as they added numerous scenes where people vouched for what a good guy he is.

In the overall context of the series, I have no issue with their romance even though I found it a bit cringe...but I certainly would not hold it up as a prime example of Green Flag. If you want that, check out Yusen's pursuit of Xiguang in Shine On Me.

I had finished Shine On Me right before starting this one and much preferred it. The 'pursuit' in that was ideal where I found it rather cringe in this one (while what he does for Yin Guo is fine, his staring and the way he constantly invades her personal space while she is obviously very uncomfortable gave me much more of a predator vibe than one of romance).
