There were advice from defectors but the script is purely by a South Korean. No co-production here, rather caution since it depicts life in NK with a lot of critique.
I usually don´t comment a lot here, but after a loong Dramaslump, this series har really sucked me in. And one reason is bc I get extreme CLOY feelings (not only bc of some of the same actors in this and not a similar plot, but a feeling - strong FL, protective romance...), I had to look up the writer to check if it is the same as CLOY! A lot could be said abput Keng’s acting also, however I think his restrained acting corresponds with a tormented and ”older” soul whereas Namping was supposed to be more young, scared/happy/in love etc. As said, I am sure they will develop and have other types of roles, hopefully not always as a pair.

Not hating, and not a particular ”Keng fan” - just commenting on the acting, I know I will be critizised for it though. If I would write a review it would comment story (10), acting (7) and OST (10). I don’t know who I would pair Keng with, I am not that invested but prob switch him 🙂 - who would you pick?
I don’t comment a lot but I must write that this series is exceptionally good , so well done - with one exception which not many have mentioned: the absolute wooden action of Namping who basically has the same innocent face throughout except when he is possessed and in the last 10 minutes of the show. I have an extremely hard time imagining how Pheem can fall in love with this motionless child, almost an ick in the romantic scenes for me. I am sure Namping will improve his acting and get diverse roles, but I also unfortunately hope that they don’t become a fixed pair… I’m sure to get a lot of protests as critique is seldome welcome, but still.
I hardly ever comment here but I must say the criticism of this quite cute romcom seems exaggerated? I’ve seen more hyped romcoms be way more stupid (looking at you, business proposal!) or have less chemistry between the otp (sorry, potato lab). It’s a simple story with fun characters, a little makjang thrown in as expected from the beginning. I am enjoying it.

Actually, when he tells Gyo Ho, he says he is the first he has told. Also it is clear that even his close friends don´t know, from the scene in the club when they mock a person who is rumored to have HIV. So, no, he doesn´t tell. He also realizes he can´t get visa to go to China with Gyo Ho bc needs a test, which he has already cheated with to get his job.

I am still working out the timeline, but I don´t agree that when he tells Gyo Ho about his HIV, it is 2024. I think the whole drama moves during around 10 years - beginning in the early university career and ending as a professional and around 10 years later. So when he tells Gyo ho, it has only been around 5-6 years since his contagion. Anyone else agree? PS haven´t read the book, which might be clearer.
