Yes that about summarize it. I dont know what was their thoughts process to choose to build the story that way…
I will just push on a bit and see if they make better storytelling choices down the road.

Of course I have also been spoiled plenty, but spoilers are just that.
they do not offer you the feeling and context associated with a scene, everything that goes before and everything that goes after.
From my experience, you are so immersed in the episodes that you forget about them until they pop up in your face in the story.
Just stay away from FB while you enjoy watching this drama ❤️

This drama does a lot of things right from cinematography and costumes to music, a pretty good cast and directing, i tried to understand why then i couldnt really engage with it and i think the issue (for me) comes from the characterization (or lack thereof) of the two leads.

After 5 episodes I know close to nothing about who is Xiang Yun as a person.It feels like they sacrificied her characterization in the name of making it funny. Fun is as fun can go. You need to throw some heart into the mix to make watchers emphasizes with your heroes.

The same goes for the ML. I just dont really care about him or his tribulations because they made him look unidimensionnal. His 2nd incarnation has much more depths but the issue I have been met then is how the directing team try to give a romantic feel to some scenes that are not per se romantic, and feel forced which just throws me off.

I think I will keep trying to watch it for few more episodes to see if this improves because it truly has potential ❤️
