I think it's time for a remake😁 With better special effects and a changed script bc I remember starting from the drama and having no clue what's happening😅 I came back after reading this fantastic (tho not flawless) novel, probably after the animation too, I'm not sure ab my watching order after so many years after, and finally was able to enjoy this show. Cringing at the view of that turtle-snake beast... However it might be pretty hard to find another Wei Wu Xian. Xiao Zhan fit the role perfectly.
Not that great. I can't get how it can be "a masterpiece" for anyone. I agree it's a matter of taste and anyone can like anything; I'm not commenting on that. Maybe it's just me that the word "masterpiece" is dedicated only for (as much as it can be) objectively great piece: its main plot, side stories, acting, etc. Not just any drama I've enjoyed. Here there're many very frustrating moments bc of poorly written splot. It started huge, and had bright parts as well, but due to for example very unrealistic, naive (yes I know it's dramaland and that's default, but here it was TOO much) not justifiable romance, kinda modern trials, this drama can't hold a candle to My Dearest.
Some ppl say The Tale of Lady Ok is similar and recommend it after watching My Dearest (and craving smth like this), but don't get fooled. Even the poster of Lady Ok here suggests it might be of that kind but despite few dark moments it's very light and even fluffy. And those theatrical trials.. ugh such unfitting to the settings.
Tian Yao and Yan Hui becoming a couple (not sure if it was marriage) and talking about "what do you think of making some little dragons";) And as Tian Yao regains his power, Yan Hui's were destroyed and she was preparing to some sort of exam. A few years passed so I don't remember the details, sorry^^'
The insta-love didn't land for me. The ML and FL's first few interactions didn't give what it needed to give to…
Kinda hard to disagree😅 But I think their relation isn't the only core of this drama. There're other valid stories too so I overlook this one as one of its loopholes. Edit: as I reach to 11th ep I've to agree with you more😂 Nothing justifies such sacrifice from one side and it's frustrating when she wants to just run away after learning it🤷🏻♀️
You are watching a drama produced before 2017 with 2026 eyes. Learn to know this difference when watching old…
Lol, 2017 is not some Middle Ages. And if one doesn't have capabilities to produce decent, MATCHING (the story) effects, they should've skipped it. To not become laughable.
I'm on the 4th ep and as I enjoy Ye Zhao's character a lot, I hate everything else. Weak fighting scenes, lack of base plot threads - is getting married and "she changing him" the only plot here?? After 3 eps there should've been some more. A few ridiculous special effects: paper flowers falling in a brothel and confetti on another occasion... As for Zhao Yu Jin, he's supposed to be exceptionally beautiful, but sadly he's not even remotely handsome.
I guess this drama isn't for me. I've started it bc under "Legend of the Female General" some ppl wrote "Oh My General" was better for them bc of the stronger said general. That might be true, but overall I'll choose to deal with some cliches and plot holes and rate "Legend..." higher than this drama.
I love it so much, I'm thinking of watching it for the 3rd time. Just one thing: a little too much melodrama. I don't mind if a drama doesn't end with "happily" but when there're many, more and even more horrible things and tragedies happening to the main characters I feel too frustrated and think: just leave them alone finally for f* sake!💀 And that's the case here.
Zhu-yatou! (from Word of honor💕)I'm very glad to see Zhou Ye improving her acting skills.Reading here that…
And my praise of Chinese traditional medicine requires an individual comment.
Up to this moment I've always mentioned to be prepared that in Chinese costume dramas one can read out of the pulse if there's a pregancy and even which month it is! Now I'll add they even can tell the gender after checking out the pulse! Hearing the voice, touching and seeing small, delicate hands as well as smaller figure in general with very narrow shoulders - it doesn't matter! The pulse will give it all away💀

Reading here that 6 or even 8 last episodes were totally unnecessary seems too harsh for me. But I agree that what happened in the last 3 eps were hmm overcooked? came out of nowhere? plain stupid..? Esp the emperor getting involved in who should marry whom. I've never heard of generals pass on his majesty's edicts too... I pity what the scriptwriter did with Chu Zhao's character there.
Nevertheless I enjoyed the show (despite not enjoying that much the 3 last eps). It had decent fighting scenes. Although Zhou Ye could never ever pass as a man, she had her badass moments. Someone wrote she was waiting to be rescued - I totally disagree. She made her own plans, went to fight and trusting and believing the backup will come doesn't equal to stay idly like a damsel in distress. Sadly there were some cringy moments, but IMO they weren't too many. Being balanced with strong points of prowess, respect and trust in the ability of another, it was bearable 😉 Just laugh and wait till it ends XD The plot holes and inconsistancy hit harder😬
At this point I'm not expecting a Chinese costume drama to fulfil my expectations (and yearnings) for a great, believable cross-dressing story with a strong female character. I'm glad she didn't become a weakling later in the story😂 I gave it 7,5⭐️

Boring, plotless, only cliches. Def not what I'm looking for in a drama.
