I'm so sad that this series has only 4 episodes. I don't really care about the hetero couples especially Mook and Toy, but at least they aren't annoying. It's just that if I've seen a BL trope 5,000 times, I've seen straight tropes 5,000,000 times, and I am enjoying Q's family discussions so much more.
I liked how they handled it Q got jealous of his uncle. Love can be irrational at times, but his uncle did not let it go, he had to have a talk with Q. Uncle Man is the sage of the home, and keeps things balanced. He keeps his sister from spinning over things she can't control, and he is helping guide Q to adulthood. I also thought it was pretty astute of X to confront the situation head on, rather than let Q run away. X has had more time to process his feelings for Q, so he is showing that he is not going to go anywhere, but they need to talk about thinks. You could see Q just let go of the tension in his body when X hugged him on the bridge. Tee did a great job in that scene.
Q's mom needs to be shown some compassion too. Many parents have a suspicion about their child's sexuality before they actually come out. She is afraid that her son will have a hard life, be teased and bullied. Even Q wondered what Frank and Toy will said when he was talking to his uncle. One of the worst feelings as a parent is, thinking about your child getting hurt. Once everything is out in the open, and she sees that her son is okay, she will relax too. Even though Uncle Man is the younger sibling, he is her rock, and he is able to de-escalate her, but speak to her her honestly.n.
This whole show is Daonuea's fault. He rightfully broke up with Tee, but then, has given his vacation fling Nine,…
You asked about Daonuea being at fault for once and I thought it deserved an answer LoL. They showed Tee "stealing" Daonuea from Nine when he gave the nerdy, bespectacled Dao (too lazy to type his full name) the gift from Nine. Dao's inner thoughts were that he didn't think he could get such a hot boyfriend, so he could have dated Tee because he was grateful.
With the amusement park flashback, and the stolen gift, the writers are trying to justify this whole mess by providing "evidence" that Nine liked Dao first, and tried to get to know him. However, they do not provide evidence that Nine ever approached Dao. If Nine liked him so much, he would have eventually approached him. Nine knows he's handsome, he would have tried. They also provided evidence that after meeting and having sex with the guy he liked so much, Nine promptly returned to his girlfriend and ghosted his long lost love that he loved before Tee. Somebody should have put up a true crime board so the writers could have kept the "evidence" consistent.
What I will miss most after this show ends is the comment section. MDL Check Out board should rewrite this series.
Not Nine forgetting to cancel his booty call subscription. 🙄 Can Daonuea be the one a fault for once?
This whole show is Daonuea's fault. He rightfully broke up with Tee, but then, has given his vacation fling Nine, way more chances and rope than he ever gave to one strike, you're out Tee. In the real world, we would be worried about our friend being so obsessed with Nine, while throwing Tee away for one infraction that Nine has done many times, and more. My opinion is, this whole series is Daonuea's fault, but I'm open to changing my mind.
Seriously!!! Nine should have alerted all of his booty calls and canceled that subscription the second he started…
He may have felt uncomfortable telling a stranger, due to all of the sex and cooking, they may not have had time to discuss being out to everyone. It looks like Daonuea thought Top and Nine were friends without benefits.
It's confusing how BL boards often reflect the society, while pointing fingers at others over a drunken kiss. The criticisms being directed toward Eiw and Earth are usually mannerisms that are attributed as feminine. In contrast, Cake being a bonehead, lazy, homework cheater who sends mixed signals, can survive on a smile and good looks. Historically the less passable gay men have taken the heat for the community. Even the word "gay" was once a derogatory reference toward feminine attributes. That's why I will give reverence to Paul Lynde more than even my favorites such as Montgomery Clift for taking the brunt of the criticism. Neither actor ever publicly acknowledged their sexuality, but take a guess on who "passed."
I love both Earth and Santa, and think they are giving great performances. If people don't like the character of Eiw, that's fine, but up to now, most of the critiques are about his mannerisms. As for tropes, hetero movies and dramas are full of them too, yet BL is put up on an altar like it should be more sacred. It's all profane. People are people, that's all.
After 11 episodes, the only person I feel bad for is Tee. Yes, he screwed up, but compared to Nine, he is a saint. This matter wasn't Nine's fault, expect that he didn't answer the phone. The lady talking about soulmates doesn't make it any better, we know it's stupidity, not destiny.
I will miss this show because the couples (except for Kim and Mek sacrifice break-up instead of talking about it) had mostly healthy relationships. I guess they had to thrown in the Kim throwing himself under the bus martyrdom for some drama, but when Mek returned, they ended up back on track.
Recap Episode 11This week's mess--I mean episode--starts off with the director attempting to meet his promise…
This is some high school level crap. I think even a high schooler would know that just let it all go and find someone new. Dao would rather dump a person who cheated once, but stays with a person who continuously lies, manipulates, deceives and mistreats him. I don't blame him for the FWB, but had he not lied so much, Dao wouldn't act like he's 16 every time something comes up.
On the surface this seems like a lighthearted comedy, but beneath it's pretty heavy. It's difficult to image waking up in someone else's body and life, especially in different universes. I would miss my family more that Talay and Tun appear to miss theirs, but it's great that they have each other to depend on. Hopefully Tess is more calm in the other universe and isn't giving Pakon a hard time.
Akira used to be a minor pursuing his adult homeroom teacher. He KISSED his teacher and ran awayHe's in no position…
I actually think that Akira is judging himself, not Shin. He wishes that he could be as straightforward, instead of running away. I'm not sure if he realizes that his relationship with Shin has taught him to be honest with others, such as telling his ex-girlfriend that he is gay, and trying to talk to Sakuma.
I totally agree, let's sympathize with both Shine and Akira. Ganbarimasu!
I feel bad for Shin, but Akira needs to sort his feelings out, and after hearing that Shin's grades are dropping, he is doing what he thinks is best. At least Akira is trying to face his feelings instead of just running away. The teacher has had many years to process the kiss as well, and he hasn't told Akira he thoughts either. As a teacher and adult, it was his responsibility to be clear to Akira back when that happened.
I think that people are being unnecessarily harsh on Akira. Although I've never experienced this, I would be very uncomfortable being pursued by a minor and/or high school student. Akira may have feelings toward Shin, but he also very conflicted over this whole situation. He feels that it's better to be up front and honest with Shin, and take time to sort out his feelings toward Sakuma. He wouldn't want to accept Shin, only to determine he still cares about Sakuma, especially if Sakuma is open to dating Akira. If that happened, Shin would be much more hurt. Akira also does not want to stand in Shin's way of becoming a doctor. Even if Akira accepts Shin's feelings, Shin still has many years of education in front of him, and as an adult, Akira doesn't want to stand in his way. I feel sympathy toward both Shintaro and Akira, and there are still 4 episodes left, things may turn around after Shintaro graduates.
did you try pink milk? Or that purple wrapped green tea? I bought a black inhaler after watching Bad Buddy series…
The next time I go to Thailand, I should put together a Thai BL viewing kit with the black inhaler, System A toothbrush, the different drinks, the perfume from My Secret Love, and snacks from the shows. Since half of the clothing is ugly or a uniform, I'll just wear pajamas.
I think the acting and the tension is great, but I also feel like I'm watching an adaptation of a Lois Duncan or Richard Peck book that I read as a teen. The adults are evil, there's something spooky going on, and people fall in love. I know it's part of the curse subplot, but I really am not feeling these rich kids protesting the uniforms. In Thailand, there are poor boys who live at temples so they can get an education, so the uniforms can be a social equalizer, like Ayan said. I think that students should be able to debate in class, and think the teacher was being a dictator herself, but so is the groupthink and cancel culture that today's students engage in. This series isn't perfect, but I like that it makes the viewer think a little more critically about things.
I get what you’re saying but in regards to the brother I don’t think he was being immature but really assessing…
I only said immature because every time I've seen a "favorite" or "golden child" IRL rant, it's been in the middle of an argument or tantrum. I've never seen them sit the parents down and say that they actually feel this way. The older brother talked things over with Duean Yi, that's how he should talk to his parents. Those feelings are real with some people, but most parents will be opening to listening if it isn't in the middle of an argument. That's where my opinion came from.
I usually read the book after the series but I liked this series so much that I read Kim and Kamol's story. In the book, Kamol is much direct and stronger toward Danil. I'm hoping next episode, Kamol will address this directly. I liked that Kim's co-workers were teasing him so much. They made me laugh, and made me want to tease Kim too.
It's very rare that you see siblings as parents in anything, and even more rare that it's a gay brother and sister…
I like that the siblings are raising Q together, and Uncle Man will be there when his sister's fears overwhelm her. Cher, the gay icon, did an interview before her son Chaz transitioned from female to male. She said that she had a hard time when her (then) daughter Chastity came out as a lesbian. Cher admitted to having had sex with women herself, but when the time came for her daughter to be gay, she struggled with it. Chaz said that while his mom struggled with it, while his father accepted him. In these shows, the mother is either totally supportive, or totally freaking out. I'm glad this series is more to to life.
Yes! I'm sick of these newer BLs getting on their knees or kneeling on the floor so their crotches don't touch.…
When people use "whiny" and "cutesy" as a criticism, they are not usually used in relation to masculinity. Santa is called cute, but it's a compliment.
The late Japanese gay porn actor, Masaki Koh, commented that because of the Japanese stereotype of the over the top effeminate gay man, he never accepted offers to appear on tv programs because (in his opinion) the viewer just wouldn't get it. His boyfriend, Tenten commented that to foreigners, Japanese straight men look gay to them. I watched that interview many years ago (Masaki passed in 2013), but even today, we go off of our perceptions.
I will miss this series! Although they spent too much time with the Ploy arc, I'm glad that we got to see the families come together. I would love to see a series with Yoon and his doctor.
