I've been watching asian dramas since probably around 2008/2009 (mostly Korean and Japanese series and films until more recent years). I initially started watching a lot more foreign media because I have an auditory processing disorder compounded by Meniere's disease so, though I'm not technically hearing impaired in the same way that someone from the deaf community is, I cannot follow dialogue at all without closed captions - which makes subtitled media very appealing.
I watch a lot of anime and science-fiction with my family, and watch a lot of BL by myself.
I tend to watch a lot of series at a time, both currently airing and older shows that I didn't get to while they were airing. I will usually pause a show if I'm finding it too angst-inducing and binge it after it finishes, or if it is annoying me in some way and I need a break. I rarely drop shows, but I will absolutely nope out if they fridge characters as a lazy plot device.
I enjoy reading, and am a huge fan of the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells.
