OH MYYYY STARSSS. Thank you drama gods for finally giving us a tall glass of water in this drought. I don’t know about everyone else but the drama world has been a bit bland lately. Poor storylines and/or no chemistry. Some starting out strong but ending poorly. Others just straight up not good.
I thought I was just going to watch the first episode yesterday bc I’ve been feeling so jaded just to see how it compares to hidden love and see the characters but I am now 8 episodes deep and I could not be more excited.
I absolutely love the sizzling chemistry between the leads, their bodies essentially burn for each other. I’ve always loved BJT and I love him even more in here! I like how he portrays sang Yan’s firey impatient personality that we also saw in HL but we get to see his softer side that only YF is privy too.
YF’s character is just trauma after trauma my goodness. I think FL does a fantastic job using her facial expressions and body language to show the audience just how closed off she is in order to protect herself. I also love the storyline of how much she yearns for him too but that desire is buried deep under all her trauma. I can’t wait until male lead comes in and starts peeling away each painful layer and reveals the bright person that she is!
saw the kiss scenes that recently came out for this drama and while they were ☄️🔥did anyone else see the hand action??? like his hand slowly tracing her’s? ZLH’s hands deserves their own Oscar and fan club. ❤️🔥
same. this year hasn’t been that amazing in terms of good dramas from start to finish.
next years gonna be great! we got this, we got guardians of dafeng, ALL of ZLH’s dramas and kdramas! I’m desperately waiting for can you translate this love.
I completely and totally enjoyed the first half of the drama, but after ep 18 the drama just went downhill for…
took me forever to finish this drama for the reasons you said. I loved first half. I was completed engrossed in the drama. second half was god awful and totally boring. the story with the songstresses and her building clear mind?! all of it was such a drag. so unfortunate because I feel like dramas have been ending on a bad note for me which is so frustrating. I was so ready to give this a 10/10. I ended up giving it an 8 bc I remember how much I enjoyed the first half. UGH. what an upset
i started watching this for a third time after watching one and a half episodes of family by choice. I think just the fact that kdramas are shorter (16 episodes) vs the 30, 40, 50 episodes cdramas have, there just isnt enough time to display nuances and develop the deep relationships that really moved me in this drama. and this is solely a personal preference - nothing to do with storyline in either drama or actors or acting skill etc.
For example, one of my favorite scenes in go ahead is at the beginning when Ling Ba comes to pick up Ling Xiao. It's late at night and it's a somber-ish mood. Li Ba invites him in and says he prepared a few dishes so he can eat a late dinner. The three kids are sleeping soundly. The two men share stories of their painful past - their regrets, the duties of being an adult, and from there you just know that an unspoken decision has been made to raise the three kids together. And somehow, the heavy scene ends on a heartwarming note.
So maybe kdramas dont have time to spend on this scene because like i said, 16 episodes vs 40 episode. But for me, it's these little scenes that really give the characters depth. I didn't see that in family by choice; next scene was just them eating at the dinner table WHICH IS FINE TOO. I was just looking forward to how that scene would be executed because it just so happens to be one of my fave scenes.
……. :(
