I’ve never seen Bao Shang Er but just from her looks she seems kinda plain. she’s beautiful with big doe eyes but she just looks like she doesn’t have much depth. from what I understood, after her first husband passed she found another man. I felt for her. but throughout the flashbacks of ML’s childhood, the audience can see ML never got along with this new family. (did she ever try and ask him why is he so distant?) he always seemed singled out. and all we get are scenes of his adult life with a poor relationship with his mom. his mom has constantly been grasping at the straws trying to mend her and her sons relationship but it just wasn’t working.
THEN she drops this bomb on him. “are you trying to make me lose another family?” what. kind. of. mother. would. say. such. a. selfish. comment. to. her. SON? and I’m glad ML’s line was am I included in that family bc I don’t think this lady even understood what she herself said.
I don’t pretend to know what happens in peoples marriages or even peoples relationships. I can only speak for myself. if I was perpetually unhappy with my mom remarrying and my mom never took the time to understand WHY I was so unhappy, AND THEN INDIRECTLY TOLD ME I’m not in that primary family she’s so afraid of losing? I just wouldn’t be okay.
I also do, in fact, look at characters from multiple perspectives. I actually been watching dramas for a while now. I feel for Pei very much. I don’t think he’s a bad person. I think he was a product of his abusive and traumatic circumstances.
Last thing - remarrying and parental relationships with their offspring is not “trivial” if that’s what you were suggesting. I was referring to MyDramaList being a trivial drama discussion platform. And that IT should not be taken so seriously

hm this is my opinion. I’m def not pretending to know about marriages, not sure where that came from. I also think it’s okay to hate a fictional character in a fictional drama. just means writing/acting was done well.
just bc I feel strongly about a fictional character doesn’t mean I don’t watch dramas with an open mind. one can say maybe people should be more accepting of other people’s opinions about fictional characters on a very trivial drama discussion platform. and perhaps said people should ask questions or make comments to discuss rather than assume and offend 🤷🏻♀️
