First drama that made me cry in a long time

I won’t add any spoilers. I think you just need to go watch it. It’s a hard watch. It’s slow-paced, emotional, and you reallly need to be invested in the story. Gotta pay attention. But it’s SO worth it. Yup, go watch it. But make sure you’re in the right mood to, as it will hit ya where it hurts. Just a well-rounded, well-made, good story that depicts the beauty and pain of life. Great cast. Really, you’ll get the feels, and it won’t always be pleasant. But, I thinks that’s the whole point. Life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Go watch it!!

Despite my good rating, I didn’t like it all that much

Will be some spoilers!!

I am a bit late to the party. I dropped the Webtoon awhile ago and only recently found out about the drama. I have very mixed feelings toward it.

Characters: what I liked:
To begin, the cast was wonderful. I think they played their parts very well. Especially Eunwoo. At first, I began rolling my eyes at his one dimensional portrayal of this cold and almost tsundere male lead…until…BOOM. You see the reason behind his “indifferent” attitude. The story of his friend’s suicide as well as his family situation is heartbreaking, and the moments where he truly lets out all his guilt and anger were very moving and well done. The side characters were lovable and, for the most part, complimented the drama well.

Characters: what I didn’t like:
Our main heroine is not ugly to begin with. Like, at ALL. We can see that obviously, as she’s a model in real life. Again, she did a great job portraying her character, but my sympathy could only go so far as she was clearly very attractive. Again, all people can absolutely feel self-conscious or be bullied. And again, she did a great job showing the pain that results from it. I guess for me it was just annoying because they tied down her terrible, horrible, “ugliness” to what? Glasses and acne? And yes, bullying totally exists for these…it just felt stretched and could’ve been approached better.

Story: what I liked:
I really enjoyed how there was actual depth to almost every character. They have motivations, dreams, passions, pain. The story was interesting and unique. The cast made it enjoyable enough.

Story: what I didn’t like:
The execution wasn’t the best. That’s why I dropped the Webtoon too. The message is there, but it really is watered down and shallow. It seems like a bubble of really good looking people attempting to appear not good looking, therefore, making actually not very good looking people watching feel awkward.

Music: was okay

Overall:
Don’t watch this drama for the message, as “true beauty” really doesn’t make that much of an appearance. But, it’s a good watch, funny, and the romance is cute. Overall, it’s a solid drama (a lot of my dislikes are nitpicking and more personal annoyances). I do think it is a bit overhyped though.

Cliche but Different

There’s a lot of tropes that have been done before. Cold male lead and warm male lead team up. Classic enemies to partners to friends. Medical mixed with law. Quirky police team. BUT, It has a nice twist. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a neuroscientist being added to a drama like this specifically. And the back story to Dr. Brain’s condition is interesting.

Story: Despite being a bit cliche, there’s some fresh approaches as well. Overall, it’s unique enough to keep you invested (starts off bad….ep1 and 2 are blah. BUT, if does get more action packed and fun as you go).

Cast: The cast is good. I just feel the acting is over-the-top/forced at times (but it kinda fits the vibe of the drama). The very slow-burn bromance is nice (super subtle though). Watch for the main leads (everyone else is quite forgettable).

Music: Just there I guess. Nothing special.

To watch it not to watch?…
Watch it! The male leads’ chemistry is humorous and enjoyable. The story has enough twists to stay interesting. The science aspect is unique. Easy watch. It’s not amazing, but it grows on you.
