I'm not even surprised about Xiu Xiu miscarriage. She was everywhere all over the place, she drank, she starved....…
One of the big points that they are subtle with in the drama, is the rich landowners/landlords should give back to the poor is because the rich are exploiting their tenants/workers by charging them high rent, abusing them, sometimes just stealing like forcing some to work for free. The drama made it seem like oh we should give them this and that because it's for the collective good LOL but not pointing out the issues.
They didn't show much abuse in the drama and IDK if it was whitewash things or if they wouldn't pass censor review.
We do see Landlords renting small plots of land to poor and landless peasants, charging high rates that trapped them in a cycle of debt as we see with Feng Si's, YinZi's and TieTou's family.
Ning was shown that he was forcing some to work for free or reduced wages.
Landlords held control over grain, which they held the power over peasants, more so during times of famine or hardship.
He's a representation of communist ideals and there were apparently a lot of revolutionaries like him who came…
My girl SuSu deserved better. She could have travelled the world and found her passion instead of being made the The archtype of idealized Chinese woman characterized by unwavering devotion, patience, and loyalty. It felt like she just gave up and made the best of it plus her reputation would be ruined if she had been officially been deflowered and then sent back to her house. I don't even think anyone in the village was divorced. Most of the single women were either unmarried or widowed.
am i the only one who feels the story is kind of rushed now? after the time skip, wendian’s death was just thrown…
They kind have to go through so many time skips or mention things here and there while showing this and that to cover 1924 to 1944. Idk if production just didn't plan out the arcs properly.
I still reject sanctimonious XiuXiu, I accept early version of her when she wanted to hurt her father who abandoned…
I fully expected YinZi being impregnated by TieTou after they first had sex and then she marries Old Ning but nope LOL. Also the kids ages/looks don't line up at all to the age they are supposed to be specifically NiWei and WeiWei they look so aged up when they should not be so old. Why does YinZi seem older than SuSu?
I feel like Yinzi could have had a more dignified ending even with poverty. Her father was stubborn and lazy.…
He also doesn't seem to really farm LOL Every time we see the Fei farm area, it's always Yinzi alone, with siblings, or other people helping her like TiouTiou. Like all he does is eat yet isn't working.
Horrible character just the worse person in the drama
Glutton Fei is worse. Why is he still alive? He's just a useless parasite. He has no shame or pride. He's not a drunkard, gambler, or opium addict yet sober he has no excuse as he is able bodied and his daughter has to be the head of household keeping shit together.
I’m glad people are finally starting to like this show! I’ve always liked it! I do also find it crazy though…
Also so much for revenge LOL I kept saying Hiro is going to say eh I'll revenge in another month and when that day comes, he goes another month until it's like fully and love and just forgets LOL
We got this instead of a "cold"/"fever" and I like it better this way. Also I wonder if someone else will be hidden crush on Hiro next week LOL It will be funny to have Natsuo being a little jealous for funzies.
When is the Sister-in-Law getting punished for all she's done?
With everything going on, she seems like a low level antagonist that maybe will see the error of her ways.
IDK how the story will play out since it's going to be 2 decades of story 1924 to 1944?
We have the Land Reform Movement backdrop, the bandits & the warlords (Warlord era 1916 to 1928) although there was residual warlord/bandits until the 1930s, looming Japanese invasion of Manchuria (1931), Chinese Civil War Phase 1 (1927 to 1937), Sino-Japanese 1937 to 1945.
wth !! surprising it's good.... i mean up to episodes 8 this show please me . i don't know how but this show is…
I feel bad for both the character and actress because good sis spends so much time crying. It can take a toll even if it's "acting" because you have to draw your emotions and it's not like she's the type to just put drops in her eyes since she's emoting and giving vs just pretty crying.
Some people here don't have anything to say aside from "Oh, it's nice if Miss Mo is the FL," blah blah…
I think it's the chemistry with the amount of screen time we had between Miss Mo and Han Li. We didn't have a lot with FL because her interactions are cold as ice unless she lets her guard down or a spell thing. Maybe as they interact more, things will change.
Well, watching the guy run away from all the women who are trying to hit on him is kind of funny :). I don't mind…
The only way I see it having romance is if there is a step to immortality that requires dual cultivation in which you need a partner to "practice" certain Taoist stuff LOL
Ah, was it advertised as a romance? You are totally right in your appreciation, of course. Why do so many crave…
I agree. All the trailers made it seem like a main character Yang Yang led series that follows his journey to immortality through cultivation with no romance unless there was some other promotions to get Idol Romance watchers but I don't remember seeing that anywhere in Chinese SNS.
I wonder if her role will be expanded in the series. Based on the donghua and novel, she's only a main character in the arc from 10 years ago, supporting character in this reunion and then we won't hear about her until years and years pass.

It can be found on the usual manga sites online.
