Rest in peace if you find one

A weird feeling of relief when a main lead dies. Her mortal life had been getting exhausting and I can't wait to see her new immortal self. One thing I'm puzzled about though: why did that cactus girl poisoned Jin Mi and how anyone could still call her a best friend. She could have recieved this arrow and allow Jin Mi and Xu Feng enjoy their mortal lives. I know, Jin Mi would have never said "yes" if she hadn't been aware that she was dying.

Mortality suits her

I suspected Yang Zi is a great actress (my first drama with her) when she played funny scenes without looking silly (normally an issue with actresses, guys do it better). Here, when she straightens up accepting her mortal fate, she looks beautiful. The redemptions like that do make sense. She is so much more mature as mortal. However, I want to complain about kissing (the episode is rich for kisses). Why the movements are so ugly?Run Yu. Loving a woman that is inaccessible dates back from his tragic childhood. Too bad for him. I still love this character and how Leo Luo portrays him.

That was too heavy

Ok, we've got the explanation. I like more subtle dramas, with no obvious good guys and bad guys. Not the case :-( There's one genuine aspect of it though: how many of us have heard this message from the significant others, "don't be yourself! Being yourself is dangerous! Be like everyone else"? It may literally feel like tearing your skin and cutting off your parts.

A fantastic acting of Leo Luo!

I am not usually picky about acting, but what the guy did with his sheer tiny face muscles movements changed him from a reserved and polite (sometimes angry, which makes him even more handsome) Night Immortal to a wounded and scared little child. I liked him and his character from the very beginning (my first drama with Leo Luo) and this episode confirms my senses. Something I don't get though is his mother who looks totally sick upstairs. I mean, it is easy to introduce a brainsick character to make things more dramatic, but I need more background of hers. Otherwise she looks like a cardboard. I hope we're getting some of those in further episodes.

I have to erase everyone's memory of tonight

A hilarious scene :-) Too bad Run Yu didn't have a chance to kick Xu Feng's ass before he erased everyone's memory. The awakening would have been much more dramatic then. Other than that they still had some fun with Pu Chi ("I defeated Fire Immortal", ha, ha, ha). I'm enjoying the pieces of comedy in this indulged love drama. I still believe Xu Feng is too pushy and wished he just let her go, since she is not responding to him.

Yuan Ji: "There's no show this time round"

What kind of show do these two heavenly perverts need? :-) This magic peeping mirror doesn't give much of a privacy for the mortals :-)

So many sensual scenes!

Even Moon Immortal gave us some action ;-) Run Yu is so sexy when angry, and Xu Feng is handsome when silent. These few episodes of him being deaf and dumb is what I really needed to get at ease with this character :-) And that was the first organic and aproppriate kiss of the few I'd seen so far.

A beautiful parallel

She saves him for the second time, now in the mortal realm. I like how her mortal identity intertwines with the immortal one, but this time she looks more focused and hard working. This is amazing, how one could feel bored and lonely in the flower kingdom and so busy, happy and accomplished in that isolated forest.

The worse - the better

Fairy Yuanji: we can make her a nun who is enlightened. Xufeng: what if she really gets enlightened?! :-) A top notch dialog in the very first scene (y) Much fun after 3 or 4 boring episodes that could have been easily squeezed into one. It was great to hear the sacred formula of all redemptions, "the worse is the better". No matter how bitter the experience is, "it strengthens the foundation". Something that applies to both our realms. However, immortals can suffer from Post (mortal life) Traumatic Stress Disorder as well. That we know from another beautiful love story. We'll see how things unfold here (I'm a first time innocent viewer). The Wheel of Karma and Fortune has a perfect visualization. The astrologer in me applaudes. They jump straight into their natal charts! What an image! And "a moment's delay can cause 1000 miles of difference in fate" - close to what we say when interpreting the charts this Lady writes up there. And, as before, Xufeng is caring but a hell of controlling. That is a great episode

Like mother like daughter :-)

The key scene of the episode (the Empress' birthday party) was great with the parallel processes going on in the younger and older generations. It is not just Jin Mi's got two top hunks of the heavenly world fighting for her, but , invisibly present, her glorious mother, fresh in the memories of both the Emperor and the Water Immortal, makes the Emperor do his math exercise while asking Jin Mi about her precise age. Ha ha ha.

I wasn't aware that theatres were homes…

I wasn't aware that theatres were homes for male prostitutes. A new cultural experience both for Jin Mi and myself :-) And a very timely arrival of our Phoenix.

Let me get it straight:

He fell in love with her because "he liked her innocence" (at least, this is how translation gives it), whereas it is not her innocence, but, rather, a blocked gender identity and inability to love a guy (a farewell gift from her angry mother)? If she was OK, would she ever followed him outside of the mirror world or would they have engaged in the romance right after his fall through as a wounded crow? The guy is so tense about female touches that he gets excited of what is meant to be a friendly gesture (ok, we don't count the kiss, advised by the playful matchmaker). What a bright cultural script (the thing that makes me interested in cdramas)!

I mean, nose bleeding when you get too excited of a girl :-) Jin Mi's innocence about her own gender identity is charming.
