I don't think subs are the reason for the hold up. This is an easy peasy translation job for a professional that is given the script to work with. Huace is probably not as conversant as the larger platforms with broadcast regulations and copyright protection across so many jurisdictions. So it is likely to be a slower process for them and Youku was not going to wait around on them to launch in China. Also the advertising market everywhere is very soft right now and international viewers just don't pay enough to justify the costs without ad revenue. Youku probably also broke this in two parts to preserve the option of delaying part 2 in case it could not secure enough ads to justify the broadcast. There is generally very slow launch of many shows right now because advertising is in a deep slump in China at the moment. That is why so many anticipated dramas secured distribution licenses some time back but have not confirmed airing dates.

Wait for the first episode of Part 2. If it opens with Episode 23, there is a strong case for MDL to combine it on that basis but if it says Episode 1 then it is a lost cause. I think it will be Episode 23 and that Youku will not break it into two parts for broadcast on its own site.

Well, that's kind of backfired bc all I feel is they are missing.
This has been a disturbing pattern since the regulators capped lead actor pay as a percent of total production cost. They seem to just get much less screen time, probably bc they are cutting back their filming time.

At this point no one is ever dead??? What I mean re Shunde is she isn’t that interesting of a villain. She is just evil and vain for the heck of it with no redeeming values. Thanos is a much more interesting and at least intelligent villain so I don’t mind as much him being revived.

As long as envoy whiskers tickles her to death with his face hairs at least once before she is killed off for good. Thanos is a much better villain, good enough to bring back. Shunde not so much...

That character just cracks me up. He has like three puny little whiskers, it's not gonna be painful enough...

I guess I won't mind that much if they kill Shunde a few times in a terrible way each time.

Lol - Idk about ELOD I dropped it before those mind numbing monologues put me into a coma. But I think when writers over-use that trick, it makes every subsequent death lose emotional impact. Though one was foreshadowed earlier on, to bring two back in the same episode is just OTT. And that is not counting Chang Yi falling off a cliff bc everybody knows the ML can't die so early in the show.

Story telling seems all over the place and what is that about dead characters popping up again? Reminds me of Italian operas where the fat dude just keeps popping up again after he dies to belt out yet another long winded aria. 🙄
