Well I don’t expect their worst will get past Chinese censors but while acknowledged for their achievements they were also both described in history as tyrants and should be complex and interesting characters. So far we are only being shown the Disney version of their best possible selves. Hopefully we get more than that - I am just skeptical bc this is rather late in Zhu Yuan Zhang’s reign - he already did many cruel things at that point.

I just saw the Chinese netizens are all up in arms about it bc Zhu Di was supposed to have cared most for his empress while this drama is going with a Jurchen princess as his true love. I am sure he had at least a few Jurchen consorts considering he spent his life fighting them but I am not sure any one had such significance in his life other than to maybe introduce the influential eunuch Yishiha to the Ming court. I am not super fussy about historical accuracy it is good enough for me that it is entertaining but I would like to know what I am watching - i.e., if it is ridden with inaccuracies. I would not want to mis-quote about the era or the emperor and other prominent characters. I did google one or two prominent characters and find the drama is quite loose with the facts - like I suspect it will gloss over all the cruel acts and killings.

Review No Boundary
I agree, esp. when we found out what happened 1000 years ago. I was re-reading my review and I wonder if I was…
I think you have been quite fair, if not generous and I like that it has an opinion rather than just long winded generic descriptions that say nothing.

Title Left Right
I normally avoid contemporary c-dramas. This will be an exception.

Three episodes in: this is not quite the serious historical drama that I had expected but that doesn't mean it is not appealing. The relationship between the main protagonists are very informal and humorous but I am quite sure they were not so casual, open and modern in their interactions. And while no expert on this period in history, I know enough to think they took quite a lot of liberties with timelines, people and events. Quite some detail seems to be glossed over or simplified, especially with the war games. I am also not sure what this Mongolian princess is doing in the mix either... But it is quite watchable I will continue a few more even though I suspect real history buffs will throw up all over this.

? I think this is Youku's highest budget drama this year
No, that would be Being a Hero - it is S++, Youku's first and only one in that category. Youku has a bunch of S/S+ dramas this year beyond just Anle and Immortal Samsara.

I can't even remember if I finished S1. I found the demon side stories moved me more than the main CP.

Title The Blue Whisper: Part 2 Spoiler
so the goddess who has a face like shunde , is the only female master of wanhua valley? and also shifu from ningqing…
I was hoping to see Chang Yi take down Shunde bc Ren Jialun said in his interview that she was to blame for everything that happened to Chang Yi. But I guess if she and Xian Shi do each other in that works too. Either way the bitch must die!

Ah ok maybe she does absorb the dark spirit then, idk I haven’t watched any trailers. But she does ask Xian Shi to make her as powerful as he is as a condition to continue to repair her face.

I believe the dark spirit must be the Earth Emperor who was reduced to just spirit form in a clash with the Sky Emperor, Tian Jun's father bc this story is about the clash between sky immortals and earth immortals. He is trying to regain mortal form but it is not that easy. Not sure if he will possess Shunde bc if it were that easy, he would have done so when she went to look at the painting. Also it may be cleaner if it is Ning Xiyu that re-takes Shunde's form bc they look the same anyway...

That's kind of a major spoiler you may want to cover it.
It is customary for disciples (often orphaned) to assume their shifu's surname. Probably that is the reason - I didn't read the book so idk if there is another reason.

Croton supposedly replied April 22 to someone on social media. I hope that is true but I am personally a bit skeptical.

Can any one explain why youku not allow this drama for international broadcast? And this drama too just youku…
