It can be mouth watering when it’s well done like Sleuth of Ming Dynasty bc they kept the ‘monologue’ visual and the actor is a genuine hard core foodie in real life rather than the dry, dispassionate and almost clinical monologue we are getting in this. It’s ok at least I won’t gain weight watching this and boring monologues are great for bathroom breaks.
Heheh the word play on some of these names are quite funny - Gao Bingzhu which sounds like ice cube is a mortician and Gao Sheng which sounds like loud (or Goldman Sachs) is the Chief Justice.

I will also say the emperor has been the smartest character by far and the one that has experienced the most growth and has the most insight. He would make a far wiser ruler than Haishi and Jianming put together because he knows how to guide his subjects and use them to their best ability. It would be a tragedy indeed if it were all for nothing.

I don't know how they will end it in the drama. In the book they have a tragic ending. Zheliu drank poison and dies its not fake poison. Zhouying ends up being king of Huku and he names his capital after osmanthus and pomegranates, her favorite pastries.
