During her ascent to power, I think when she was still regent to her young son she established the informer system to weed out and suppress opposition to her rising authority. These informers could come from any social class and travel at public expense. She developed a large underground network of these spies and secret police. This resulted in mass executions of entire clans of anyone who posed a threat to her. I don't know where this drama is going with the whole informer concept but that is the gist of what it was in history.

One and Only is frankly superior to the book and the chemistry just works. It is so odd that it doesn't so much in the modern. Did you watch the fan made alternate ending for One and Only? I suspect members of the production team did it.

I think BL is over but I hope I am wrong. All 3 of them iQiyi, Tencent and Youku have rich content pipelines that are only getting approved super slowly. Haven't you noticed lately that only the low budget low viewership no idol actor stuff is dropping? Advertisers are not spending money on those content the ones they want to spend on are not coming and subsribers are also falling. I think they will all have to fire lots of people if this continues but iQiyi was the first one to do it last night. If even mainstream stuff like Luoyang, Sword Snow Stride, Who's the Murderer etc is held up by censorship, fat chance the BL stuff even makes it. I think they won't even risk pissing off the regulators by trying. And I don't think this is gonna change - this whole morality drive is driven from the very top and that dude is gonna be there for another 10-20 years.

Its not infidelity, FJM and Haishi have a prior contract that prevails. You can think of her title of consort like a Cayman's company that is hiding FJM's asset and he is the true beneficial owner of said asset (Haishi).

Yeah its just cheap grandstanding - I mean turn her loose on some worthy, smart opponents there is so much left to do. Weed out some of the palace spies including that dastardly Fu Yi etc, have her work with the emperor and Jianming to trap Ji Chang etc...etc... etc...

I am sorry to say I found the latest episodes meh. I enjoy strong female characters but Haishi’s halo is too bright at this point and I don’t need her to be all things to all people or have super power at everything. This is also how Rebel Princess went downhill when suddenly the FL starts to become good at everything and runs around preaching at everyone. I started rolling my eyes when I watched Haishi lecture the ministers and save the day again. After improving substantially the writing has gone downhill for me. We don’t need to make the whole kingdom look so dumb with so many incompetent officials so that Haishi can be so smart and it’s frankly done so often these days it’s also very boring and digresses from the main plot. I don’t enjoy to watch her waspishly lashing out at pretty much everyone at this point. I really dislike her character turning into Empress Big Scold.

In the book Tilan was a blind princess that was cured by the merfolk and tries to save them from human exploitation.

JOF had many issues but Sha Jiejie the ultimate drag queen is one of my all time favorite c-drama characters. And for some odd reason lots of people love the ice cube shifu he is the iconic ice cube that all ice cubes should aspire not to be...
