Really? I have heard it is among the shortlisted in the coming Beijing film festival, could you tell me where…
Idk I was invited to a private screening when it first came out. The reviews are very lukewarm. I wouldn't go to a lot of trouble to try to watch it.

Shanglin Fu or imperial Park Rhapsody is one of the famous works of one of China’s most revered ancient poets.…
The staid professor in the novel is clearly the one that seduces Shiyi for the first time, during which he recites Wu poems to her. Of course one cannot expect them to show that part in the drama but I was still disappointed at the way it was edited and I think it would be fitting to least include one of two lines of the poem afterwards. Also in the novel she flashes back to the past and cursorily recalls a moment when they almost threw caution to the wind. ZSC of the past (and present) is a hidden sexy beast. 😜

I would also clarify in the present day context, the Wu poems are pretty staid - its all quite metaphorical and at best just very suggestive.

Title Forever and Ever Spoiler
The drama didn’t emphasize this point as much as it is in the book bc they’re trying to avoid overt references…
The final scene hints that everybody except the monk and the disciple in the wheelchair actually died shortly after ZSC died. If you recall, according to the empress Cui Feng was already surrounded. As emperor Liu Zixing could not hold the border against Nanxia; that suggests the Nanchen Royal Army was defeated. Thus many years later, when the disciple in the wheelchair and his aide visit the temple, all the ghosts of their past comrades show up. The final scene means pretty much everybody died. There was no ghost of the hot monk so he must have survived.

Yeah but considering he never married and never had kids, how did his name survive? His original surname should be Liu, same with the crown prince - he gave it up when he removed himself from the line to the throne so unless his mom's surname was Zhousheng or Zhou, there should be no surviving lineage.

Yeah, he's so thin... does his paper in Qing Jun need him to be that thin? Anyway, as long as he's healthy
He was his chubbiest ever in Love a Lifetime. He has alluded to his weight problems on interviews - like he tends to gain but it melts off during shooting. He has got an inner fat guy just waiting to burst out of him.

That long poem…Xiang Lin fu….was it a poem between the. In ancient times? And the family kept it in the library…
Shanglin Fu or imperial Park Rhapsody is one of the famous works of one of China’s most revered ancient poets. It is what Shiyi was copying onto the wall of the library in O&O. She stumbles over some of the more passionate lines when ZSC comes up to help her. I was laughing bc I wasn’t sure if that was appropriate material for this shifu to teach his young and unmarried Shiyi. I cannot quote the exact line from memory but it has layers of meaning around when beauty yields (have sex) the lovers souls unite (find ecstasy); how a man can lose his soul in his lovers beauty etc.O&O is littered with amorous hidden meaning.

I was hoping that their original writing somehow survived in the Zhousheng family archives but sadly it doesn’t look like it.

Has it finished airing in china??the douban score is so early this time,..🤔
Douban releases the score only after it is meaningful; ie a reasonable no of episodes have aired and enough users have rated it. Idk precisely what the metrics are but its better than say MDL that will publish a rating even if only 5 users have rated it and 6/40 episodes have aired.

Title The Justice
Couldn't agree more. I love and hate her. She is going to let her revenge destroy everything... its so enraging…
What really bugs me is her reason for not trusting Yizhi is so flimsy - he has made his feelings so clear and most importantly she well knows he didn't know Huang Ruhong when her father was alive. It is so dumb for such a smart character.

Oh excellent tyvm - I love that poem but I so don't want to re-watch to look for it...

The point isn't whether SY is okay with it or not, it's that him letting go of her hand doesn't make sense in…
Actually I am ok with his reluctance to demonstrate affection in public. I think the drama is just very clumsily trying to convey that even though ZSC doesn't remember his past, he instinctively shies away from this because of their past taboo relationship. The big disconnect though is in the novel, in private he is very quietly amorous, even seductive after his initial shyness. We haven't seen that yet but 8 more episodes, there is still hope.

Yeah she is not consistently written but dang its the only show in awhile that shows women are far more ruthless than men and much less easily moved by love. But yeah same on the latest, I want to cut my fingers off for accidentally opening some major spoilers.

My Chinese not good….. in beginning he said he collected Huge songs or embroidery? What does that mean? Some…
If I remember correctly in the novel ZSC seduces Shiyi by reciting Wu Songs or love poems to her. This was completely skipped over in the drama. The line you refer to is a fairly common Chinese saying about avoiding over indulging in wine women and song but i wouldn’t call it a poem. ZSC is just complimenting her by saying he never understood the temptations of the flesh until he met her (just my interpretation).
