I am now at ep 22, it is very good! What question was that at the end? I really want to know ML's answer
He didn't beat around the bush, he admitted that his interest in her is no longer impersonal but he believes his feelings are one sided wishful thinking. He also defended her and said she is not tainted by her profession, she helps seek truth and justice how can that not be worthy. His logic left no room for Xue to argue and he left in a huff.
She is simply stunning I have always felt that way about her. But I don't really care for gorgeous faces that…
I never get hung up about how the actresses in historicals look or whether they are Han enough because that is just what we today perceive what Han Chinese look like. In truth, when Qin Shihuangdi united the warring states, they were actually ethnically different states with their own language, culture and customs. And the ruling class frequently had political marriages across different states. So after so many thousands of years, everyone melted into what we think is Han today. Tang was at the crossroads of the Silk Route and the Tang emperors and preceding dynasties intermarried with many races including grassland tribal people. For all you and I know, a "real" Tang princess way back then looked far more like Dilraba than say Zhao Lusi. Li Shimin himself married some of his daughters and sisters to GoTurk generals. So I am quite certain the "average Han dynasty person" way back those many years ago looks very different than what we today think they looked like.
I notice now Tencent is offering the fast track pay per episode even though many folks have vip. I would think…
This is happening bc the platforms are losing too much money at the moment - Youku for example lost ~CNY 3bn (~$450mm usd) in the March quarter, idk how much Tencent lost but it should be more. They finally raised subscription prices by 25pct in April after 9 years but it is still not going to be enough to cover the losses. So they are making it up a bit with on demand advanced viewing. Chinese VIPs only pay ~$4/month after the price rise, much less than international. I know international viewers don't mind paying more but Chinese viewers unfortunately do.
I saw comments on Twitter about how they are afraid Netflix will mess up the subs, like changing zhiji/soulmate…
Well in that case, hopefully they just lift the Youku subs or buy the Viki subs. It is a much bigger platform it will be a shame to see the show ruined for broader audiences bc they decide to sub it badly themselves.
My anger levels are highhh. jeezz, she even killed her own sister likeeeand wow, so many people died in the last…
She was a shallow, insecure and callous sociopath well before Fu Shui showed up - to kill her own sister for loving someone. Wow I have no words to describe what I think of that. My biggest problem is that she is crown princess because of Fu Rou and Chu Mu's machinations. This really makes angry at them. But I already been ranting about that I need to stop. I just hope she dies a terrible death.
A quick question of translation for those who understand Mandarin:Do Sun and Changge use familiar language to…
They are totally not at all formal with each other throughout the show. They were guarded about their identities in the beginning but that is about it.
Dilraba name meaning is Bewitching, Alluring, Heart Stealing. In Uyghur, it means "beauty of my heart".What a fated…
She is simply stunning I have always felt that way about her. But I don't really care for gorgeous faces that can't really act and I have to admit I was always very dismissive of her from her previous works. But TLB really changed my opinion of her and I am really delighted to discover she is really intelligent and a cool person. I will say her production company has done her a disservice putting her in anodyne roles just because she is so beautiful. I am glad she took on this role despite the frankly racist criticism that she doesn't look Han Chinese and all the veiled criticism of her not being suitable or not doing a good job is just shameful and embarrassing. There is no such thing as Han Chinese anymore, we have been melted by 5000 years of history. I am so proud of Dilraba, she really showed everyone what she is capable of in this role.
Exactly... nosey Parker.... I dislike her so much I am amazed I am still watching. She is the busybody from hell whose interfering results in people dying. And despite the dramas issues, I loved her in Royal Nirvana which despite its depressing mood had some of the most memorable romantic lines I have ever encountered. I was hoping to see more of that here but so much for that!
I stopped watching this because I was quite bothered by the way fans behaved in the comment section. I like reading…
I have never let a thread determine what I watch or not watch. And frankly speaking, this is one of the nicest, most constructive threads I have been on on MDL. If this scares you off, then good luck watching any other c-drama. Maybe you just swung by on a really bad day. In any case, just trying to say this is a great drama. If you don't like the thread, watch it anyway and don't visit but if you do, no one bites here.
I saw comments on Twitter about how they are afraid Netflix will mess up the subs, like changing zhiji/soulmate…
I caught a few episodes with the Youtube subs recently and I think that the existing subs are actually quite decent but still have room for improvement. Hopefully without the constraint of censorship (Youku has to ultimately toe the line) Netflix can go a few steps further.
I understand. I’m right there with you. I’ve only been enthralled since the trailer was dropped. I still remember…
My favourite dramas are all deeply flawed. I think it has to do with that je ne sais quoi that makes you addicted no matter the shortcomings and even if you see it and can even describe and acknowledge it. Not being able to find words to express why its so perfect for you is another sign of THOSE kinds of dramas... I still hover on this thread even though I have said all that I can think of to say.
I was so sad they killed of Han wang fei... crazy I don't even know her name but I loved her. Now I hate the empress I was happy she died and I hate Fu Rou for being such a busybody and intervening where she has no business, thus helping the ungrateful and evil crown princess attain her position. I can't forgive her I don't even care anymore if she has a happy ending.
That was the sexiest half spoken line in the entire drama. And his expression was perfect.
Ye Hua is the ML in Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms or Eternal Love which is the silly MDL/Netflix title. Its a bit dated by current standards but its what got me addicted to c-drama and the character is one of a kind. I actually like Ning Yi better bc he is darker. The Untamed never resonated with me but I think I am just an outlier.
