That's a very interesting theory, let's see if it plays out. My only observation that the princess seems to love Jinyu a lot, he seems to be her favourite. Jinli also ceded the title to him , which is something she may not have agreed to if he were not her beloved's true son. And even though there is a touching could have been connection between Jinyi and Chu2 in that version, I much prefer that Chu2 is Jinyi's connection to the father he longed for but grew up not knowing.

I was hoping he would reunite with his family even though I kind of guessed he was dead when he gave his love token to Chu Chu.

I think they all more or less grew up together but since he was only the foster son of nobility he was always one notch below them in status and did not mingle as freely with them. Like I imagine he was not included in their lessons together whereas we can assume Wei Zheng tutored Changge, Leyan and Wei Shuyu together.

Think of them like a piece of the set. They all did exist and were given great credit for Taizong's many accomplishments during his reign. I think it is kind of cool to have some of the main male characters to be written as their sons running.
