Both FLs are very well written and showed courage and strength in different ways.

OMG borrowing some names is the least of it... there are so many clearly Jin Yong inspired parts in this its ridiculous (drinking snake blood, the way the parents died etc). This was one of his later works from the 1980s when Heaven Sword etc were already huge hits. So to be fair, I think it would have been impossible to write about Wudang without pretty much adopting what Jin Yong wrote about Wudang and their founders and martial arts as canon.

LOL - I am about there too but I thought I would continue at least until he loses the crazy hair and see if he grows up a bit.

I think Longest Day in Changán, Yanxi Palace, The Untamed and The Story of Minglan were other recent Chinese dramas that did very well overseas. Although it is a bit older now, I think Nirvana in Fire was one of the earliest big hits, it has even been dubbed in English and a few other languages.

I must admit I am dying to visit the Wudang site - it looks like it is indeed an ancient Chinese mountain temple and not something they constructed just for this drama.

Yes and indeed this ability to be simple about all these supposedly profound manuscripts is the core reason for among others, Guo Jing's martial arts skills as well but I got it that the dude is simple by episode 4, I don't need them to waste another 15/16 episodes driving that simple fact home to me. And as much as I loved Jin Yong, Guo Jing was my least favorite hero, even Hu Ge's portrayal could not make me like that character.

I find that so ridiculous considering how we have 18-20 year old female celebrities doing full kisses with guys…
Yeah and Song Weilong has been happily kissing older women left and right including most recently Tang Songyun why is no one ranting about that???

Yes Jin Yong sets a high bar but I used to like about 60-70pct of Gu Long's works as well. Liang Yusheng I never got into but I don't remember why.

Indeed that is the plan. Truth is I love the setting and the fight scenes and the plot seems ok as well. Its just depressing the thought that he is gonna be an idiot until halfway through the drama.

Well idk whether it is a glitch but over 1000 new viewers or 3000+ in total have now rated it.. There are 11k viewers so up to another 8000 new ratings can be added.

I hear you but I suddenly remember there is nothing distinct or special or innovative 20th century wuxia other than the fact it was written in the 20th century and it rehashed old wuxia tropes. Its only claim to fame is it focused on different sects. The lightbulb also went on that this is the writer I tried to read many times but was never able to complete any of his allegedly great works. Whereas I blew through and re-read Jin Yong and Gu Long multiple times when I was supposed to do homework. I turned to this dude in desperation when I had nothing else to read but he never resonated with me.. But to be honest it was so long ago I don't even remember anything about any of them. Anyway rather than to reattempt any of his books, I may as well try to watch a bit more of this and see if I can at least complete one of his stories...

Title First Sword of Wudang Spoiler
Yeah there’s a lot of characters making dumb decisions because the plot requires them to. I really couldn’t…
That was stupid but I can at least sort of understand he wanted to go home with some glory that makes him worthy of her hand. But I really gave up on him when he decided to leave his heavily pregnant and defenseless wife alone while they were being persecuted to go beg her father's forgiveness first. I was so disgusted I wasn't even sad at what happened to him. And then their sect leaves their bodies where they are only to try to bring them home 18 years later??? smh.

But still lost with word of honor..is that drama is good?
Word of Honor is really excellent and if anything it is underrated on MDL, I enjoyed it a lot more than the Untamed. I will watch BL if its good but its not a genre I am crazy about or seek out either. TLB is also great, we are lucky that 2021 has given us so many good dramas so far.
