This sounds great! A strong and powerful FL with a great outcome. And, for a change, we see the perspective of…
I find the first time I watch a good story is always the best. Subsequent productions always feel obligated to change something and that rarely works out better. Jin Yong's stories have been remade ad nauseum but while I can honestly say recent productions just look a lot better, I have not liked any of them as much as I liked the original ones. The only exception I can think of is Handsome Siblings but even then its likely because I didn't like any of the old versions I watched... In any case, the only time I will consider re-watching the same or a similar story is after many, many years, especially if I have more or less forgotten the first version.

Hmm... can't say I am with you on that one. I can't see anyone else playing those iconic characters but the original cast. I would have no interest in watching any other cast.

The problem is the three platforms have been shamelessly knocking off each other's content pipeline. So we keep getting very similar plots - Legend of Xiao Chuo, Renascence and Promise of Changan are all largely same plot different cast. Also: General's Lady / Sleepless Princess; Twin Flower Legend/Legend of Two Sisters in Chaos etc etc etc. I think we should just be very careful on which one we decide to watch and which one to pass on because no one is gonna watch the same story 2x no matter how good its supposed to be...

You could try Love and Destiny where Ni Ni also plays the FL. I think ROP is much better despite the bad ending.…
Stop at 50 then.

I just love this show. I really like the character of Hu Ge( Mei Chang Su ). He was the smartest main lead from…
Ning Yi in the Rise of Phoenixes. He is cunning and ruthless.

I think she can because her dream about her brother was averted.

Eventually dvd version will get released they usually have more footage but likely no subs. I always watch dvd version for older dramas.

I think this must be a pretty good story all around bc iQiyi is doing advance viewer option to see all episodes from Nov 13. I don't think its an option for international subscribers. They normally don't do that if the story is just meh bc it will piss off a lot of people...

1. Who do we think murdered her? Prince An or Xindu gang?2. Is she a one woman show at Ruyi Pavilion the secret…
I was just thinking she is a Charles Augustus Milverton like blackmailer character (Sherlock Holmes. She must have access to secrets and wouldn't a magistrate come across many secrets along the way? But yes, otherwise her dad seems a pretty upright character...

Yes indeed the drama goes out of its way to highlight the significance of the bracelet from ep 1 it makes me think there is someone else behind Ruyi Pavilion....

Great observations I have had my eye on Gu Yuan as well....
I know that is where it looks like we are going but it will be disappointing if he is the main villain because his motives are too thin....

1. Who do we think murdered her? Prince An or Xindu gang?2. Is she a one woman show at Ruyi Pavilion the secret…
She knows more about the story of the burning of the temple that she wouldn't reveal to An. I do wonder whether that is a motive to keep her alive? And if Ruyi Pavilion is just a one woman show, what is the value of it to Prince An - as in what use is taking it over? How did she get her hands on so many secrets as a one woman operation? If that is the case, its a rather thin plot... Furong's dad I believe is a district magistrate. I slightly suspect him because he must have some association with Ruyi Pavilion - allowing both his daughters to be disciples of Ruyi and helping her expand her business...

Frankly I don't think we should be too hung up on the missing dream sequences. If the show chopped them off it…
As others have said, it is clear some scenes were cut making the transitions a bit odd. And the missing dreams made Fu Rong to me seem like a total flake in the beginning for all her totally loony antics with Su. I was rolling my eyes thinking this is yet another airhead FL but at least her comedic timing is decent... Although she has since grown on me, I still don't have the best impression of her and a lot of it has to do with her inexplicable behavior in the beginning.

So regarding Fu Rong's shifu.. .. (spoiler don't open if you haven't watched latest):
1. Who do we think murdered her? Prince An or Xindu gang?
2. Is she a one woman show at Ruyi Pavilion the secret society? Surely she has other people around her? Who? Fu Rong's dad?
