So far we haven't seen the Emperor at all but he's in the background for eg there's discussion about how Pengcheng…
Yes he is sickly but his reign was quite long. It is not that easy to figure out when in his reign this story is set. Not sure if Liu Yikang is already prime minister or is just responsible for governing a very important province on his behalf. I suspect the latter because he doesn't seem to be that powerful and is deferential to some of the other aristocrats and some of his reforms are in the beginning stages. That is why Luyuan can still push him around. I hope they end the story before things become complicated between him and his brother. They don't seem to have cast anyone as Wen so hopefully that is the case.

This whole 24 episode honestly felt more like a set up for a bigger season ahead.
Hope so!

Killing Liu Yizhou was so not necessary.
Poor Rong Su - even the scriptwriters love Rong Hua more!

which characters do you hate?
I am just looking for a better more subtle villain although I must admit Luyuan is quite menacing. This show has a very deja vu Weiyoung feel to it, especially with the women villains and even Luyuan to some extent. Even the two loyally pesty servants are so deja vu. I am hoping for more and I know in history someone he trusted called Liu Dan led to his downfall (maybe not maliciously).

My eyeballs are officially on strike now. They are disobeying impulses from my brain ordering them to roll. Yikang is such a love sick fool my nose is now balking from snorting so much! At some point I am gonna lose all facial muscle movement but I will try to hold on till the end. Dang this show is better than botox!!!

You took the words right out of my mouth lol. I didn't like Prince Jing Ling at first but he is growing on me,…
And the way he kept bumping into Luyuan to push him out of the way. It was so subtly mean I almost died!

This is not wuxia, its just historical & political genre. Just because it has martial arts doesn't make it a wuxia…
LOL - Let's just call it a hybrid and split the difference! Doesn't matter whether its animal, vegetable, mineral, wuxia or political as long as its enjoyable.

Gonna call it: the mystery man behind LiGe's master is Wang Zi Jin's father... He's still bitter about losing…
Yes he was suspicious from the moment he turned down the marriage proposal for such a flimsy reason. He plays the drunken fool too well.

which characters do you hate?
If the story follows history the final master mind will be someone Pengcheng trusts, more likely a man. Maybe one of the scholars that he is bringing into the palace or sadly maybe even Jingling Someone who is in a position to undermine the emperor's trust in him/is trying to push him or frame him for trying to usurp the throne. All the rest are too obvious and ultimately petty villains.

There are worse things than death. She’ll keep those around that can be of used. But as it stands now, Rong…
Fruit of the poisonous tree... Its very prevalent throughout. Rong Jingfeng was her disciple, he was influence by the same ruthlessness and petty vindictiveness. Turns out he was her "best" disciple. And Rong Su was also tainted by her father and to some extent Mo Huan although thankfully it is not too late for her. She had the opposite influence on Ruo Han who turned out to be her opposite - compassionate and unwilling to burden her kids with the past generations grievances.

There's a male actor with the same name when spelled in English. I suspect the Chinese characters are different,…
