New Chinese drama - English dictionary:
Yuan Tong = Bitch from hell. Cunning and despicable. Evil beyond redemption. Fated destiny to be reincarnated as a lower life form (take your pick within anything in the insect realm).

Title Love and Destiny Spoiler
QY + YF = Shocked and inconsolable. Cruel. Speechless. Even if it means happy ending for JC and LX I am not sure I will get over this.

The costumes for this series are not that great for both Ni Ni and Chang Chen. I feel like they dress the other…
I agree that most of the colors on JC costumes are not flattering at all although I like the cut and style. The yellows and golden browns make him look very sallow. White so far has been the best on him but he is a guy there are so many colors to work with I don't know what is wrong with the designer. He is supposed to be some famous award winning designer as well.

The sweetness of episodes 43 & 44 are just a mask for the cruel reality of episode 45 & 46. Knowing what was implied…
We must brace ourselves. I think Ah Mo is going to die very, very soon. Within the next 1-3 episodes...

Wow! Up until 23, I struggled with why I even care that much about any of the main characters in this show (as epic as the other aspects of it are). This was the turning episode for me. Liking it a lot more now.

Just manage to summarize ep.43 Before I need to attend to something else: JC found that LX worried about him and…
If I had 3 wishes one of them would be that JC and LX together smoke YT with thunderbolts so hard she gets reincarnated into a cockroach.

The latest five episodes were just wow! So many twists and turns, and (never imagined I would say this for a Chinese…
Yes they do but usually Chinese subtitles only, no English. Also blu-ray is more popular in Singapore. Malaysia often DVD version only.

It looks like I'm the only who sort of likes his character. Historical accuracy aside, I like a foreign sidekick…
Me bad was thinking of the Netflix production just slipped my mind that was in English.

41-42 mostly uneventful and filler infested. Si Ming was really VERY naughty he is an evil gremlin that dude and is about to wreak havoc on YF and QY. QY has quietly and stealthily stolen my heart in this show. She is perpetually mourning her lost love and always looks so heartbreakingly stoic and despite his best efforts YF can barely get her to crack a smile. To her he is just a shallow, indolent high immortal with little ambition or purpose. She mourns her lost love who wisely tells her in another incarnation that remembering the past would just ruin the present for him. And then along comes Si Ming now appearing to set in motion a chain of events that leads to a resolution. I couldn’t guess what happens but I am intrigued. A bit frustrated at JC LX slow progress but this is an interesting sub plot that looks like its going to play out soon...

Heheh! Too bad you are not a simple peasant like me. Easily entertained, subversive material not required.

International c-drama fans really need to stop talking down Chang Chen. Just because he hasn't appeared in any…
No need to get upset... lot of haters and angry peeps out there. Life is just too short. Just ignore. After all, most of us just stop watching when we hate one of the leads that much so its like they enjoy signing up for self torture... Ignore them. When I see something really silly, I just ignore it. Silence is truly the loudest response in the world.

I don't know if I should be happy or sad that the extra episodes that end the show early is due to China's August…
That's so silly of them - they should just release all the most addictive purely entertaining ancient dramas out there into the anniversary. Its much better than having everyone so bored silly with propaganda that they start scouring the internet for "HK protests live"

How is that related to 10 Miles of?
It also exists in the same 3L3W universe so same tribes, same places, same concepts with respect to time in mortal world vs immortal world, etc. I think this story takes place well before 10 Miles. My guess is that is why its considered related content.

Yeah while in principle I see the point of giving Zhang Xiao Jing a new sidekick, the character was just poorly…
Wow, that is just excellent color - I rolled my eyes at that pretty comment as well. The character is also super annoying because I really hoped to see the relationship continue to take off between ZXJ and TQ and this vain pretty boy is getting in the way without adding any value.

In the 20s and uhm... . why is this fluent Chinese speaking, kung fu fighting, building hoping foreign priest dude sticking around? Seems like a gratuitous digression on a already rather less believable character. Not loving this latest (one of many )plot digression hopefully it ends soon.

The real question is whether that automatically qualifies those two clowns to be immortals (doubt it). And if…
Interesting you pick on those dramas - they are all by the same director so many common themes and character biases. I won't really comment specifically on them here bc I already wrote reviewes on them. Maybe try out different directors? Although I noticed all of the 2019 romance themed dramas are all dragged out with many fillers. At least in L&D you get one of the veteran main leads, mostly Ni Ni in the fillers if you watch The Legends its more fillers all by newbie unknown actors (painful).

I am just ten episodes into this and I am totally enchanted. I don't have the baggage of having read the books (yeah, shame on me) so I don't have any expectations am just reacting to the drama for what it is. What I like best so far beyond what is an excellent storyline, is the friendship between the three young leads. I think it absolutely rocks that its not a trite love triangle but a warm, fun, supportive friendship between two young men and a young woman. Men and women being just friends more than anything else although with a spark of attraction to each other is just so rare and underexplored in dramas like this. The female lead also doesn't bother me much, I think she is rather adorable - at least she is not making lovesick puppy eyes at one or both of the male leads all the time. And for the record I detest the typical whiny, noisy, infantile and spoilt brat routine that is common in these shows, I have dropped things like AOL (yeah that gal was what I consider to be a total train wreck) for that specific reason. I feel so far this female lead is naturally quite charming and is not over-acting that badly and is getting more flack than she deserves. She has good friend chemistry with both male leads and she is that x-factor that brings out the comaraderie in an indescribable way. I also usually prefer and appreciate veteran actors and this production certainly is overflowing with them. They are pretty awesome but so far, I am most moved by the trio and how they seem to bring out the best in each other in an otherwise pretty cynical and brutal world.
