I think its heavily hinted many times that Banxia is at least a half or even a full demon. And we know her dad must know bc he was helping drug and gaslight her that demons didn't exist. When she got lost as a child, she fell into the Wuyou realm and met Manying whom we now know is Xuanye. If Banxia were not at least part demon she wouldn't be able to get into that realm. And her mom went to the Underground City to look for her and that is how she got abducted by the Mirage Demon. Other small clues are Banxia dares walk in the forest alone at night, she can interact with the mirror and the cat demons etc. I think/hope her folks aren't bad, they are just scared for her.
