i thought she would at least make an effort to prevent the known deaths but she just lets them die.
I think she already learned from trying to save her own mother that some people's fates are not meant to be changed. And she also sees that the changes she made resulted in some people dying (i.e., Lu Zheng). Besides, Ming dynasty was already very restrictive to women so there are serious limits to what she can do. She already scandalously runs around in the company of men with a lot more freedom than most women. If she pushes it too far, her father and uncle can punish her severely and even imprison her.
