This should be during Emperor Ruizong’s second reign, after Wu Tzetian’s death. During his first reign he…
Yes it is definitely the most interesting and there were also the most real court conspiracies and power struggles at the time. Like truth was so much better than fiction even!
Trust me, I really tried hard feeling the heartbreak and emotions of a woman who lost her love to her brother's…
That is exactly what I was thinking. The whole setup looks super cool and it recalls TBOY by bringing all the characters together over a coffin but the sub-plot beneath it is shallow and not in the least intriguing. They were in love so there was already a natural merger of the Yan and Gu families. No need to kill him just so Gu Jianmen can be elevated - arguably like his elder bro he is no pushover either and as one of the Eight Talents he has friends in high places who are bound to intervene. Hopefully the next arcs are more solid with less boasting and more showing.
Remind me again what era is this? It's Tang but not during Empress Wu time? I heard her name mentioned but there's…
This should be during Emperor Ruizong’s second reign, after Wu Tzetian’s death. During his first reign he was his mother’s puppet and during his second reign he was under his sister Princess Taiping’s thumb. He was a weak emperor. The Crown Prince should be Tangmingwang Li Longji, one of the greatest and longest reigning Tang emperors whose downfall was Yang Guifei.
I have a question. The Su guys from Dark River look young in DY but they didn't look old in TBOY, while other…
I think this is going to be a persistent issue as it was in TBOY as well - very wide age range of actors playing characters that are supposed to be similar ages. It can’t be helped with such a huge cast.
I like the graphics / sword fights and the dashing looks of male actors in this tv show is far superior to the…
Yeah they changed directors and this one obviously is bad at martial arts choreography. All the fights are a few quick cuts and flamboyant posing and then CGI does the rest of the work for the fighters. I do think the CGI is more expensive than TBOY and well done but I don’t really consider CGI fighting fight scenes. Quite disappointed by that. Storytelling is also shallow but I only watched 4 episodes so far so let’s see if deeper plot lines develop.
Is it? If it is, it’s not satirical enough. That’s the problem with Yuzheng. He tries to do a bit of everything…
Yu Zheng is a director that has been hit by multiple plagiarism scandals. I guess people just didn’t understand they were really parodies and not plagiarism! 😅😂Evidently he only produced the Double he didn’t direct it.
Make no mistake about it - SHE is allegedly "the mastermind" and not her brother!!! Her brilliant masterplan involved…
True and again my point is, its not made clear so you can think about it in different ways. If she didn't BOAST about being THE MASTERMIND I wouldn't have a problem with it. But she is a "MASTERMIND" that got the love of her life killed. I can't imagine anyone that unknowingly went through that using such loud boastful words to praise themselves.. This is just not a good way to write a story. Her masterminding rings very hollow and is meaningless.
