What exactly happened to Gu is not well explained. And she boasted that she is the mastermind and not her brother. So at what point did she start to "mastermind" everything that went down? Plotwise, I was not impressed by the first arc. I don't think it was well thought out at all. I hope this does not continue to be riddled with holes.

Make no mistake about it - SHE is allegedly "the mastermind" and not her brother!!! Her brilliant masterplan involved getting the love of her life killed so that the Yan family's hostile takeover of the Gu family would fail and she "WINS" by marrying a corpse?!?! Am I supposed to cry??? 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ All that showy grandstanding and CGI fights aside, what kind of nonsense plot is this? Please no more plotting by this "mastermind".

Well I think that since that is they way the writer wrote the character's ending, they should be brave enough to show it in the adaptation. Its kind of a cop out to just end it with him still alive and then skip to the sequel and say oh yeah, he died offscreen... But whether or not they show it doesn't matter bc I already know what happens to him. So I don't want to get invested in the character.

They did indeed swap out the directors. I just started I don't have a strong view on direction yet but I do think the CGI is much less bright and obnoxious compared to TBOY.

I did preface it by acknowledging the bad script but I have seen them in enough other roles that it is suffice to say we can just agree to disagree on those actors. It’s cool. I would also say my bar is super high good actors so that list is very short. I consider the vast majority of them to be mediocre . But these are subjective views if you like them, good for you.

You are right, a parody doesn't have to contain satire. I did pick up on a hint of mockery and comedy in the story but I didn't think of it as a parody bc I found most of the imitation to be for imitation's sake. There was nothing new or especially humorous about what was clearly borrowed content from PWY and other dramas. I thought Yu Zheng was just being Yu Zheng and just couldn't help but help himself to scenes he liked from other dramas. It does have a strong feminist tone and it is unambiguously a female centric drama, which I did like. Overall it was very entertaining, I had fun watching it bc I didn't take it that seriously. Thanks for the insights.😄
