Yes they definitely had better chemistry and that is why people think something is missing here. I don't really watch for romance but for plot so I don't really care about that.

Yeah I can ZJM being better in modern dramas. She doesn't have a good ancient drama look. But after One and Only, Bai Lu's roles and acting have stagnated. She is very lovely but acts the same in everything. I found her acting in Kunning Palace quite disappointing despite her chemistry with ZLH.

Idk but the best father-daughter arc of the story is now over...

Honestly these big screen extra HD TVs have too much info I keep tuning down the resolution otherwise I can get nightmares also. This one is ok-la nothing scary so far....

I am watching on my extra big TV screen, no need to expand more. Those big red lips and the flaky make up of Kunning Palace made my nieces think gugu is watching a horror show.

It is quite interesting bc everything has changed and yet it is still the same. Resisting bullying Imperial powers is a recurring theme in Jin Yong's stories and this seems to have stood the test of time. Even Westerm Venom's signature martial arts 蛤蟆功/Toad martial arts is designed to satirize colonial powers.

They are trying but old souls is hard to pull off - it takes actors that lived a little to pull it off properly.

My sentiments exactly. At about ep 30 was where this drama lost me. All that melodrama is exhausting after awhile.

She's a good actor but this plot design is very similar to Kunning Palace where ZLH was also the lead and unfortunately his chemistry with Bai Lu is much better. That was so recent that I can't help but feel something is missing here. But I am not much of a romance watcher and I think her acting is a lot better than Bai Lu's so I am enjoying the plot a lot more. I think both leads are a bit too young to play old souls trapped in young bodies after a long and bitter marriage to deliver super convincing, riveting portrayals. They are doing a decent job but I think this is something slightly older actors would pull off more convincingly.

Well, if nothing else, it is realistic.😂

Glad you are back..... And yeah me too but the voice actor is pretty decent and it makes him different from Xie Wei so I can live with it...
