Yang Kang is a very complicated character. His mom spoiled him and allowed him to be raised as a Jin prince and never told him his true roots. He was loved by his foster father who loved them so much he didn't even have other concubines or try to have biological sons of his own. All these Song people just judged him and blamed him for just being who he was brought up to be. He is a tragic figure, completely misrepresented in this version.

I haven’t rated it but I think it’s so far not as good as the 2017 version which is rated 8.0 on both MDL…
Her name is 黄蓉/Huáng Róng in Mandarin and Wong Yung in Cantonese.
The 黄 character is also the same character for yellow pronounced huang in Mando and wong in Canto. You are thinking of 王/Wang which is also a surname and the character for king or prince.

If MN still chooses to be with YK after knowing he let the murderer go; I have no hope for her as a moral human…
YK is not well written or well acted here. He is just dumbed down to an outright villain. In general all the young generation main characters are made to be 2 dimensional so most of their actions won't be that relatable. If you want to understand the complex character stories you have to watch a different version.

He didn’t know she was blind the first time he saw her again after all these years right? Also I vaguely remember…
I was just a kid the first time I watched it - she gave me nightmares!

I think this director doesn't like beards - he pretty much got rid of it for both H7G and Huang Yaoshi. C-netizens…
For sure ZYW can definitely act the part even though he doesn't look it. I don't feel they needed to remake Hot Blooded but I am looking forward to the individual stories.

I dropped the 2017 version before I got there but believe he took it off once he saw she was blind in the 1983 version.

True but that is not a cast comparison - the beard is Huang Laoxie's signature look - it is like making Pokemon blue instead of yellow. I don't mind zipping through the plot bc I read the book a gazillion times but I feel most of the characters are MIA.

Lol - I watch a few episodes of this and then I go bounce back to the 1983 version to remind myself how great the story really is... But I do like how ZYW played Huang Laoxie. I just agree with netizens that he is not Huang Laoxie without the beard.

I think this Huang Rong is super cute but so far she has no chemistry with this H7G. And their banter should be one of the best parts of this story.

Yes they are trying to tell the stories of the older generation but they don't want them to seem "too old"...

I didn't know the the 2017 Canto version was on YouTube. I thought I needed a TVB subscription to watch it. I may watch it on the treadmill at some point.

Exactly! Even my Mainland friends use Canto names when they talk about HK actors. Like Lau Tak-wah and Leung Chiu-wai sound so lame in Mando. And I don't even answer if they try to call me by my name in Mando bc I am too busy cringing! All the names in this show are so much more cool in Canto. It goes both ways, I won't watch the c-dramas in Canto bc a lot of the Mando names just don't sound good in Canto.

Title The Double
Duke Su's plan is very risky. Zhao could betray their alliance and take control once they're in the capital and…
Yeah its a reckless plan but the plot at this point is making less and less sense Even the entire SRY to marry JL plot is nonsensical. But at this point it doesn't matter anymore bc logic left the scene many episodes ago.
