Exactly! Even my Mainland friends use Canto names when they talk about HK actors. Like Lau Tak-wah and Leung Chiu-wai sound so lame in Mando. And I don't even answer if they try to call me by my name in Mando bc I am too busy cringing! All the names in this show are so much more cool in Canto. It goes both ways, I won't watch the c-dramas in Canto bc a lot of the Mando names just don't sound good in Canto.

Yeah it takes awhile but most of the Jin Yong dramas are almost always dubbed into Canto bc of huge overseas Chinese audience. I think the 2017 Canto version even uses the 1983 soundtrack and OST which is incredible. Some of the really popular Mando dramas also have Canto versions but usually you have to wait a long time. iQiyi put the Canto version of Kunning Palace on their site. I usually prefer to watch in the dialect the story was written in so I watch the c-dramas in Mando but the Jin Yong's stories were originally written for Ming Pao which is a daily Canto paper. Some of his best phrases uses ancient Chinese phraseology and is not how you would put them in Mando and the character names all sound much better in Canto so I prefer to watch Jin Yong in Canto. They are dubbing all the main roles anyway so its not like the actors are even using their own voices. Unfortunately LOH has no Canto dub yet.

No I am not yet caught up. But I think this version of Guo Jing is leveling up too fast. What was great about the original story is they almost died many times bc everyone they encountered was more powerful so death was literally around every corner.
