The real reason they insist on using the CCP instead of CPC is it is a pathetic attempt to deny the legitimacy of the Chinese government. It is very petty and only something people with very small world views think is ok to do. China did make many mistakes along the way so the Chinese diaspora is rightfully more skeptical of the CPC. But these people (including my family) gave up on China and they left. After that the CPC got its act together and lifted 750mm people out of poverty since 1990, one of the greatest accomplishments in world history. Those 750mm people are well and alive today and remember vividly what their government did for them. So yes they criticize their government like most citizens do but make no mistake, the CPC is the legitimate government of China today and they are far more popular than the Western media and governments like to believe.
As for incest in LYF CX and XY are half first cousins in the novel but in the drama XY’s mother is adopted so they have no biological relationship to avoid any hint of incest. But until quite recently in history maternal first cousins can marry. That only changed after it was scientifically known it’s highly inadvisable so I think most dramas will avoid portraying incest even if it’s not in a positive light. In general it’s a lot harder for big budget high profile dramas with wide viewership to get away with most things but the smaller lower profile shows have more leeway.
