No I didn't but I have heard good things about it. According to novel readers, the adaptation makes quite a few…
🤗 I think it should be available on Croton in a few weeks. If it isn't, AVV will probably end up subbing the whole thing so either way you should get to watch soon.🤞
Why did they both become mer-people...was it a dream or was it real??
Ren Jialun says that bc Tianjun restored him with the rare fruit of the Bodji tree, which restored his tail. He is whole again, a merman but how Yunhe gets a tail is never explained in the drama just in an abandoned bit of script.

Yeah I totally hear you on tropes and c-dramas annoying habit of ambiguous endings. That said for this I was “spoiled” the book ending from the beginning. And I was kind of WTF when I watched the finale bc it surprised me and I can’t hide behind “maybe I didn’t fully understand “. But upon reflection I really like the ending. It is foreshadowed and IMHO very fitting.

If you don't pay too much attention to the wording then it could be real. But if you do, then it is quite clear it is Chang Yi's fantasy of what happens if/when Yunhe returns. I believe it is a sad ending that has Chang Yi still waiting the day evil is erased from the world so that Yunhe can return to him.
Agreeeee.... want to see their baby... I'm afraid it's all just Changyi's fantasy because there are very few scenes…
I believe it is just how Chang Yi imagines their reunion. Yunhe has not yet retuned but we can hope one day she will. If you follow the story, the first Sky Emperor could not fully eliminate Zhu Yan, a shard of his evil remained. When it mutated into Shunde, the same thing happened. Yunhe sacrifices herself to seal it so that it will never be released upon the world again. Do you believe evil can be completely erased? If so, then like Chang Yi you believe Yunhe will fulfil her promise to return. The final hint is how she becomes a mermaid... that is just implausible and must be a figment of Chang Yi's fantasy world. In the best case, it is an open ending, where we are asked to erase evil from our hearts so that Chang Yi and Yun He can finally reunite.
Tian Jun revived Chang Yi with the fruit of the Bodhi tree that bore fruit after Shunde cared for him for a hundred years. It was something he kept as a momento that was able to revive Chang Yi and restore his tail - ie his full powers. They kept it a secret to lull Shunde into complacency and action. Yunhe sacrifices herself to seal the final evil remnants of Shunde in the lava. She promises to return when she can wipe out the last remaining bits of Shunde/evil. The final ending is open. If you believe that evil can be eliminated and Yunhe will keep her promise to return then they will reunite. I think it is at best an open or sad ending for Yunhe and Chang Yi. Everything that happens in the song is just Chang Yi's imagination/what he looks forward to. But if you really want to suspend disbelief then it is a bit of stretch but you can take a leap of faith and assume it is happy.
Please don't tell me there will be a love quadrangle 🥲 ...
I know there have been some grumbling about all the angles in this show but from my POV there are none. The way I see it is they are all simply admirers since no one alive gets the time of the day.
