I don’t know how this show will turn out, but GMMTV is bound to be in a difficult situation if they try to do a more complex or mature BL. Their core audience loves wholesome fluff and need stuff spelt out for them, whereas people who actually like more depth and maturity tend to not touch anything from GMMTV lol

Just in case, maybe I should clarify that I was not shitting on Thai BL, god forbid my favourite BL of all time is from Thailand. I was only expressing my displeasure with the practise of promoting actor ships, not with the shows themselves. Every country has things they can improve on when it comes to queer shows and the industries that make them.

Which is why I’m considering watching it:D haven’t tuned in since Not me

Could be. But honestly I don’t think he has any idea what is going on on the Korean side. They don’t seem to communicate with the artists. I don’t trust Jeff’s statements much either because what he says often ends up being wrong too. Jeff could also just want people to forget the whole show even if it releases cause he is so bitter about everything that happened there. Even if it airs I don’t think Jeff and Barcode will promote it anymore, they will probably be just silent. Jeff could also be a bit frustrated that people keep asking him about Wuju Banery and not Happy Ending.

One thing about JBL that I really appreciate is that they don’t keep pairing up the same actors over and over again. Every show and movie feels more fresh because of it and I’m actually able to get immersed more. I can watch the same two actors together in maybe 2 shows but after the third one it all just starts to feel like I’m not watching characters anymore but some sort of pseudo rpf au.

Can someone tell me if there exists already a full-length KBL? I haven’t watched anything from Korea since Semantic error and although I loved it I thought it was too short.

I hope so! Maybe then we will get more big gudget BLs from Japan that expolore concepts beyond school and office settings. There are some gems in JBL out there, but no Japanese BL project has really had a significant budget before this. Something like Kinnporsche or Khemjira or The Untamed from Japan would be amazing.

They need to hire a proper translator asap though😅

I believe it when I have actual episodes on my screen (just like with HE). But yes, it seems they are trying to revive it.
