It's a BL. https://www.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/showbiz/movies-series/2026/1/27/netflix-series-starring-2pm-s-taecyeon-hayato-isomura-gets-premiere-date-1532
ššstill need to see it with my own eyes thoughš
It's romance, but it's always been marketed as an understated queer drama, not a "BL". So if people expect…
If it is actually romance then count me very (pleasantly) surprised. They donāt have to go full heated rivalry or anything, just acknowledgement that the characters are more than friends is enough for me.
Co-produced BLs with South Korea have historically not worked out well (Wuju Bakery, Soul Mate). I wonder if this one will break the pattern and actually airš
Iām not speaking for any specific generation, just stating my own preference .I donāt mind if the actors are super famous as long as I myself have not seen them in more than letās say 3 productions (maybe itās because Iām more from the anime/manga and book side of fandom where a new character always equals a new face haha) I think Iām a minority though, as most people seem to get attached to the celebrities more than any characters they play
Btw just curious, which seasoned actors would you have casted for Heated rivalry if you had had the choice?
If the company can afford to make another drama I hope they keep up with the interesting and unique concepts. I donāt want more office or entertainment industry romance because those are already everywhereš¬
So this wasn't in Netflix's 2026 lineup...I fear this drama may never see the light of day...
These international collaborations with South Korea rarely seem to go well, at least not when there is queer series involved. Wuju Bakery too was filmed and never releasedš
did this show get screwed over because of scarlet heart? i don't quite follow or can understand gmmtvs 30 shows…
Gmmtv will never change their formula of quantity over quality as long as it keeps being so profitable. Why invest money in good quality when people will watch anything as long as it has their faves in it.
I donāt really understand why they announced this project so early as long wait times and postponing just frustrate…
Iāve been thinking exactly the same. Original series canāt go far with screenwriters that are āquite goodā,they need to be exceptionally talented. All of the most beloved BLs have been based on existing source material. If they canāt find any good source material from Thailand they should look into the possibility of buying rights to danmei novels like Yesterday the series did recently (no idea if it will be good but it shows that rights can be bought) or any promising queer themed source material from whatever country. Alternatively, they could do queer reimaginings of source materials that are not queer per se (like some modern Western authors have done with Greek myths etc.) Like Sammon is good, but I think we have already seen her limits.
Also, source materials would significantly reduce the time between announcement and release, making everyone happier in the process.
It is really frustrating to be a fan of the POTENTIAL of BL and GL but dissatisfied with the actual current state of them haha

Taking 1,5 years on a script should only be acceptable if itās a full length series š I was already disappointed with Shine this year ( the final product did not match the development time and marketing hype imo) so Iām kind of concerned for this one as well.
Also the fact that boc is now expanding into gen/straight contentā¦.if they only make one queer series per year they should at least try to make it proper length,go all-out on scale and make it so epic that it doesnāt fade from discussion in a few weeks or months because that is not sustainable for the company(only Kinnporsche has managed to maintain an active fandom long after the series ended)Large production conglomerates like GMMTV that churn out dozens of series per year donāt have to make their series memorable or care about longetivity but small production houses have to or at least should.
Also, tbh I donāt think 4 minutes needed a sequel, they should have gone with a new concept and new charactersā¦..Idk maybe Iām being too harsh on Be On Cloud, but since Kinnporsche showed us what they are capable of it has been hard for me to accept all of these new mini series with kind of meh characters in comparisonš¬Now that Domundi has kind of emerged as a potential competitor with Khemjira (it capitalized on similar things that boc is known for :high production value and fusing traditional genres with BL) I wonder if it could spur boc on to step up their gameš¤In 2022-2024 they were basically the only company making mature āprestige BLā but that is changing now. Who knows though, maybe they are content with only having their one hit and do not even attempt to create anything comparable to KP ever againš
I agree that we need more seasoned actors in queer series and movies but for me personally itās also bad if the actor is too known. If I have seen a face too many times itās impossible to take their character seriously as the suspension of disbelief that I need to enjoy series has been shattered. This of course applies to non queer context too. When it comes to the West Iām kind of sick of seeing for example Timothee Chalamet everywhere (nothing against the guy, just think that he is too much everywhere)Ideally there would be seasoned actors that are still somewhat fresh in that they have not been in every major production for the past 5 years.
From 8.9 to 8.5? People are downrating this series just because their favorite GL doesnāt have a rating this…
This always happens to the most groundbreaking series that try to explore new things. Kinnporsche has a rating of 8 and I feel like Clairebell will eventually join as now itās down to 8,4 lol
It's been half of January, still no official information about 8 Hours, jes movie promo in February, in March…
I donāt really understand why they announced this project so early as long wait times and postponing just frustrate fans. Better to just announce a show once most of it has been filmed unless you need to make a pilot trailer to secure funding but obviously that is not something that applies to BOC.

Sorry for the rantXD
