Yeah, there are a lot of shows that are basically long commercials promoting the couple brand. Ideally actors should serve as vessels to bring characters to life, but with Thai BLs it often feels like it’s the characters that are the vessels (for rpf)😭

There are some Thai BL projects that I truly love, but surprise surprise they are passion projects that prioritized the character pairings and story over actor ships.

A lot of people might not realize it but one reason Payback is working is because they did not cast an established pair and instead tried to find actors who suit Jay and Sun. The actors might become a pair in the future though, which is unfortunate.

I’m glad more people are starting to see the issues with Thailand’s rigid CP system. I hope things get more flexible in the future, although I’m a bit concerned because even some CBLs have started to form actor ships😅

It’s a good show but one should never judge a show based on MDL ratings :D

That’s a relief to hear. This is the show I’m most interested in watching right now so would have been a real bummer if the experience got ruined by bad subs.

High and low airing in 2028 is kind of funny because that means that whatever major foreign IP adaptation they announce in this year’s lineup will probably air in 2029 or 2030😂

The lineup was yesterday. They announced one new BL and one GL.

Revenge and characters that serve as psychological case studies are also very much my jam. Hence, the more ”issues” a character has the more I’m in😁 Some people might be here for the hot guys (which is fine) but I’m not even into men😭

Yes, at the Timeless Thai Taste event in Los Angeles where he was promoting Vamp last summer (the same event in which Be on Cloud was promoting Shine)😅It’s very hard to take these aspiring creators seriously when they do shit like this😂

That is good but I hope they will not start making being gay the core conflict of all their series like most Western productions do. That is very limiting as well. What we need is genre fiction (thriller,crime,action,fantasy,sci-fi etc.) with queer/gay romance in it.

All in all I think too that they did really well with what they had. Just can’t help but wonder what kind of a global hit this could have been if it had had Kinnporsche level investment.

But yeah, slow burn with good payoff in just 9 episodes is basically impossible.

Century UU Thailand will have their 2026-2027 lineup in a few days. Really curious what kind of projects they have in store.

I think it’s good because now no one can watch everything. That is how it should be. Nobody can watch all straight shows either. Competition breeds innovation, which is something BL desperately needs right now.

If this had been made by a bigger production studio with a better budget I would have absolutely loved it. The characters and their dynamics have so much potential.

I feel bad too sometimes for disliking this cultural trait but it is one of the main reasons I have trouble enjoying Thai BLs (alongside the rigid actor ship system)😔
