I can’t say this with 100% certainty but I think the project (or at least the original cast version) was internally shelved around Jeff’s birthday when they held that exhibition which showcased Kim,Tonkham,Sunshine and Damon. Charan was not included so that exhibition struck me as looking back on and celebrating Jeff’s past work. It would be a quite strange move to post old material from the pilot era after two years if the project was truly progressing. Who knows, maybe Jeff genuinely still wants to make it someday but it is very clear it has not been scheduled in anywhere. I think it might be Jeff’s dream project in the literal sense—it’s an aspiration he has but the actual prospects of it being made are low.

As I’ve said before, I do wish he would be honest about things despite some potential backlash. It’s not as if his career would die if some fans get a bit upset, he has a very large fanbase. I kinda hope someone puts him on the spot sometime at his concerts or fanmeets and asks about it directly.

Jeff has described it as a fantasy love-story and romcom previously,whatever that meant. Also he did work together with Keng and Barcode with Ta during Wuju bakery era when they were still considered a pair. The bigger issue here is that the series will probably never get made at all due to various behind-the-scenes issues. And hypothetically even if it were to make it out of development hell years later and revived they would probably have to recast the whole thing (including Damon) Pilot trailers are very time sensitive and need to be turned into series relatively urgently if one wants the cast to still match the characters.

I really want to see more of the KP universe. Usually I’m against remakes and originally I would not have ever wanted one for Kinnporsche since I love it so much but as years have passed I’ve changed my mind. There is so much left to explore with these charcaters and this world. I would really like it if on the 10th anniversary of the show they could do a remake and a season two with new actors chosen by the original cast. Like the new Kinn personally chosen by Mile,the new Porsche chosen by Apo and so on. Having the original actors in charge of casting would be a great way to honor the first series while bringing something new.

Kind of side-eying them because they have not announced any new series in a long time. If this year passes without any series being announced I can’t help but wonder what the future of boc is…

Why does this have a bromance tag? Isn’t this just an ensemble drama with a predominantly male cast?

Getting actor schedules to align for this is probably a nightmare since the cast is very fragmented (some from domundi and some from various other agencies)

Some domundi characters are actually pretty weak but not because they are feminine or anything like that. It’s because the scripts deny them agency. They and BLs in general too have the bad habit of making their more feminine-presenting characters quite passive and doormats instead of having them actively make important decisions and actions that drive the plot forward.

Thai shows really drive me nuts with their comedy and the gap between trailer and show sometimes😅

I don’t think it will get cancelled but I would not be surprised if there are some cast changes since it’s taking so long

It is so annoying really when people only associate strength with physique and fighting ability. Like yes, that is one type of strength but inner strength gets overlooked too often. Like there is no way anyone could convince me a buff bully character with a fragile ego is a strong character😭Also characters can be strong in one moment and weak in another (because that is how things are irl too, nobody is strong all the time)

Yeah I think it is the prevalence of doormat uke characters that made some people associate bottom characters with being weak. And then as you said advocating for verse couples as superior emerged as a direct reactionary response to this stereotype. Unfortunately it is not any better as a take than what it is reacting to since both equally lack nuance😬The real answer is actually just to write better and more complex characters regardless of bedroom position preference.

Also another thing that I’ve noticed is that while people tend to often criticize the portrayal of bottom characters in BL, at least I have plenty of grievances with the characterization of many top characters as well. Like many top characters are just very generic manly men with masculinity being their whole personality😅I’m glad we have some good series now that are exceptions but in general BLs tend to have bad writing and as a result the characters feel really one-dimensional. Which is sad because it does not have to be that way.

There is not anything inherently regressive about seme/uke/top/bottom like some in fandom nowadays think. It’s all really about agency. As long as both characters have agency and nobody is passive and just being acted upon things are cool.

It’s kind of annoying that nowadays the most prevelent takes in fandom are two extremes—there are those who hardcore subscribe to top/bottom stereotypes and then those who think verse/switch is the only way for a character pairing to be progressive/equal and having any preference is so unenlightened😅🤦‍♀️

I’m excited but also feeling cautious because Kinnporsche is my standard for mafia series and GMMTV is not exactly known for darker concepts. Also the series is often a downgrade from the pilot when it comes to this company. Still you can always hope they have seen the light and changed…..

Yeah, there are a lot of shows that are basically long commercials promoting the couple brand. Ideally actors should serve as vessels to bring characters to life, but with Thai BLs it often feels like it’s the characters that are the vessels (for rpf)😭

There are some Thai BL projects that I truly love, but surprise surprise they are passion projects that prioritized the character pairings and story over actor ships.

A lot of people might not realize it but one reason Payback is working is because they did not cast an established pair and instead tried to find actors who suit Jay and Sun. The actors might become a pair in the future though, which is unfortunate.

I’m glad more people are starting to see the issues with Thailand’s rigid CP system. I hope things get more flexible in the future, although I’m a bit concerned because even some CBLs have started to form actor ships😅

It’s a good show but one should never judge a show based on MDL ratings :D
