The drama was going perfectly fine with a great scrip and pace. However, somehow they screwed up in the last two…
I have to disagree. For me, how the two families became enemies was illogical. The alliance was based on Yan providing water to Wei while Wei provided protection for Yan. When Wei needed reinforcements after Bian invaded, Yan did not have a strong military and could not provide backup. The Wei clan, on the other hand, had numerous strong generals including the grandfather, father, and eldest brother. Where were the rest of generals and their armies?
The whole premise of them becoming enemies was done by Wei Dau who didn't want Wei Shao to become the leader of the clan at such a young age. WD rallied everyone into believing that it was Qiao clans fault for not sending back up. The reason this would work is because WS was too young to take over the clan and the other general who didn't provide support could find someone else to blame. Also, his brother told him not to trust anyone, including the Qiao.
This story would have made an enemies to lovers more believable if the girl had come from Bian, not Yan as Yan was not Wei's enemy.
I made it to episode 27 and had to drop it because of all the illogical things that were happening. When she burns the sulfur in the warehouse and then hides in the barrel, she would have become extremely ill from the sulfur fumes and burning grains. Yet, she was able to crawl out of the barrel with ease. These are just two very big illogical things that happened in the drama. There are more. jmo
Even though I enjoyed the first two episodes, I find it hard to believe that someone of his status would just have sex with a stranger after just meeting her, especially since he is a virgin. Her, I understand, as she is a modern girl, but he is very old school.
As someone who loves these kinds of stories, where the FL ends up inside a novel and tries to push the original…
From your list it appears you mainly watch Korean dramas, but there is a really good Chinese drama called The Romance of Tiger and Rose about this very thing only she is writing a script for a drama.
P.S. A couple examples of the fast, clunky pacing from the beginning were the scenes setting up the marriage between…
I am sure there is a way to do it, but I have never set one up. I would be watching it on Netflix. So we could just say we will watch episode 1 on a given day and then email each other on the message board rather than in the comment section. That's what I do with my other friend. If it were on Viki, I think you can set up a watch party.
Depends on what you mean by love triangle. If you are talking about more than one girl or guy after the lead,…
Yes, the FL does not have a relationship with the king.
Yeo Ri, the female lead, loves Yoon Gap a childhood friend who leaves for the capital when she is 13. He comes back to Yongdam to take her to the capital, but is killed on their trip back to the capital. Gang Cheol, a serpent spirit who wants Yeo Ri to help him ascend, jumps into Yoon Gap's body. Yeo Ri then falls in love with Gang Cheol who is in Yoon Gap's body. I don't want to spoil it too much.
So to say that there is a love triangle is debatable as Yeo Ri loves both Yoon Gap and Gang Cheol, who is in Yoon Gap's body.
I've only watched this once, and that's exactly what bugged me since episode one. The mother is just SO unloving,…
I just watched it again for the 3rd time after a two year break from it. I watched it on Viki this time instead of on Youtube and the translations are very different.
Also, if you want to see the same mother/duo watch the modern drama Hidden Love. The mother is very different and so is the daughter.
Depends on what you mean by love triangle. If you are talking about more than one girl or guy after the lead, then, yes. If you are talking about an actual love triangle, then that is debatable. The female lead loves Yoon Gap, but then falls in love with Gang Cheol who is in Yoon Gap's body.
There is a second young lady who also likes Yoon Gap.
For those curious the teacher doesn't do anything inappropriate. The student basically becomes obsessed with her.…
I have to disagree with you. She falls in love with him when he is her student. She treats him like a colleague and friend. They go on several field trips together without permission from the director or the parents. Romance does not have to be sex, hand holding, kissing, hugging, etc. It can be just wanting to be near each other, sharing an intimate moment (the piggy back ride), or even a day at the museum.
This drama was pointing out all the corruption and bad things that can go wrong in the teaching environment. Both the teacher and the principal had inappropriate relationships with students and both were indeed fired for it. It is the power dynamic between the two that makes this so controversial.
By the end, both are consenting legal adults. She is no longer his teacher. The power dynamics are gone. jmo
P.S. A couple examples of the fast, clunky pacing from the beginning were the scenes setting up the marriage between…
Yes, I felt that both the male and female leads in this drama were flat. For me, all the female lead did was stand there. I really felt no chemistry between them even when they were suppose to have chemistry. My favorite part of the drama was the servant and the general.
Flourished Peony is a stand alone drama. There is no cliffhanger. However, there are many things left unexplained.
Yes the rule of no more than 40 episodes per season, I believe. The Chinese people complained that dramas were becoming too drawn out with too many filler scenes instead of actual story lines. That's why you will see in many dramas the back story of all the characters which you don't really need. Also, the Chinese people complained about the length of each episode, so most episodes run to 45 minutes or less.
What are you watching next? I will be finishing Legend of Zang Hai and starting Secret of the Three Kingdoms.
WS is supposed to be inspired by Cao Cao and Xiao Qiao also really existed but she was someone else's wife. Its…
Thank you so much. I will see if I can find any of those dramas on the platforms I get. I see Secret of the Three Kingdoms is on Viki. I'll check it out.
Hello, how are you? The last time I wrote to you was on The Double. I watched 28 episodes of this 27 regular and the last one. How is this a parody on the Three Kingdoms? Can you recommend any dramas about this time period?
P.S. A couple examples of the fast, clunky pacing from the beginning were the scenes setting up the marriage between…
Yes, I loved it. It was a strong 8.5 for me. If you liked it, you should try Flourished Peony. It does have two seasons and the next season is coming out in July?2025. It's called In the Name of Blossom.

Just writing to say, "hello". I was watching this with another poster and had to drop it on episode 27. From the illogical beginning to the flat comedic scenes left little desire for me to watch it. Glad you enjoyed it.
That's okay. This drama is not for everyone. Hope you find something you will enjoy. You might enjoy The Double.…
