I was the last person to comment here and now I'm commenting again. :-) I just re-watched this, to see if I could understand it a bit more this time and I think I do. This is a film where we get to see how certain characters gradually lose their numbness and learn to feel something. So much of their actions seem to be grasping for feeling, and that's why they make so many of the decisions they make - often with consequences that will last forever. One of the characters says at the end that they will live on by being "wounded [and] forgetting [and] remembering." I think that's the crux of the film. It's no less unpleasant to watch in places, but that's the point. I can't say I "liked" watching this film but I now have respect for it, if that makes sense.
This is my new favorite drama!! Why must we wait a whole week between episodes?!?!? (The pain of becoming obsessed with a currently airing drama!) LOL! :-) This wonderful new show has exceeded any expectations I might have had going in, and introduced me to incredible actors I hadn't seen before. If it continues in the excellent way it's started, this will be a very high-scoring drama...
The special episode takes the whole drama from "pretty good" to "absolutely phenomenal." I actually shed tears multiple times throughout the special and it had the best ending. There are eleven episodes to this drama, and not ten, so don't judge it without watching that last episode!
We had the same idea (of pointing out the lack of Japanese dramas here - hahaha - your comment got more response…
I watched it on that D addicts site, and had to download the subs on the side. That's a very clunky way to watch dramas, imo, but I was glad for that at least.
Omg I feel like I watched Marmalade Boy the anime along time ago. Watashitach wa Douka Shiteiru is very popular…
These are the ones that end happily, (according to your definition, although the characters are not all married): Glass no le Love Shuffle (I love this one so much!) Kakafukaka Million Yen Women Watashitachi wa Douka Shiteiru Marmalade Boy Blue Spring Ride (they're high schoolers and not married, obvs, but it's still good, I think) Perfect Crime (if I remember correctly, this is happy...?)
I'm adding Scum's Wish, even though they're high schoolers and it's not a happy ending it's still a mature drama! (And it's the same ML as Perfect Crime.)
"HYUNDAI KNOWS WHAT IT DID." This is the funniest article I've ever read on this page...on many pages, actually. I could only read a paragraph at a time, I was laughing so hard...nice work!
