I watched the movie last night. Hachiko is the name of the Japanese movie and the American movie, but the Dog's name is Batong in the Chinese movie. The lead dog is obviously male. I am guessing that Da Huang was one of the many dogs that portrayed Batong. The end is heart wrenching, but joyful.

For Er Nui's fans, the beautiful dog is credited in Si Jin and Mysterious Lotus Casebook on Dramawiki. The name is Da Huang, and the profession is Actor. Da Huang was one of the dogs playing the lead dog in a C-movie, Hachiko, which is the Chinese version of the Japanese movie, Hachiko, a Dog's Story. I watched the Japanese movie many years ago.
