In Archives, Zhang Qi Shan should already be established as Fo Ye since the Buddha statue is in his front yard.

I missed that scene with Wu Xie. Zhang Qi Ling also had split second acting scenes. Does he ever talk?

I watched this drama this week after Mystic Nine Season 2. I agree with you. The first half had some flow and function. The last half fell into murky tomb plots and pagan tribe rituals. The Mo villain was comical. He had too much screen time. Zhang Hai Xiu was the most impressive bipolar split personality villain I have watched.

Did Archives happen pre-Mystic Nine Season 1? The giveaway would be Xie Jiu Ninth Gate Master, who was quite alert. In Mystic Nine 1 and 2, he was ailing. It is also curious that Archives' Zhang Qi Shan and Ba Ye look ten years older than their Mystic Nine 1 and 2 counterparts. It is also hard to believe there were pagan ritualistic tribes in China in the early part of the 20th century.

I completed this drama in four days. I was impressed with the acting skills of Zhang Xin Cheng and Ding Yu Xi. I may have watched five of the Doamu Biji dramas over the years, and the Archives main actors and their characters have the most depth, visually and plotwise. Ding Yu Xi as Zhang Hai Xia is one of the best villains actors I have seen in the seven dozen C-dramas that I have watched over a ten years' span.

I think the producers should have persuaded William Chan to guest appear as Zhang Qi Shan, even if it was a minor role. Han Dong was quite bland as ZQS. Hanson Ying as Bai Ye Eighth Master aged five years visually compared to his character portrayal in Mystic Nine Season 2.

I have watched 50% of the drama. The plot is riveting, despite Hai Xia's lack of mobility in many episodes. The plot above ground is more interesting than below ground. The AI creatures are hideous.

When I was watching Hai Lou, the rookie cop, brag about his real identity to the man on the boat, I knew at once that he was exposing his real identity and his secret organization employer. Hai Xia should have shut him up immediately. Hai Lou essentially destroyed the Southern Archives organization and its members. Hai Qi told him to his face that he was a snake, and Hai Xia was a bird... or a phoenix. Hai Lou is a super avenger and bully. He slapped Cousin and Steven around with such force many times.

I have watched the two MLs in other dramas, and they are showing their acting skills here. I love their voices, too, and I am glad they were not overdubbed.

He is quite funny in Archives... Nanyang zmystery.

I have not followed NPSS's literary journey over time, because the plots seemed disjointed, but Mystic Nine Season 2 plot seemed to be more focused, except when they went into the Otherworld Tombs. He started thinking outside the writing box as he achieved fame and riches. His supervision and good screenwriters, and affinity for the Gate actors and their characters paid off.

If episode 29 was all a delusion, is Huo Wen Hai really dead? What is perplexing, is that Fo Ye says why didn't Lao Gou and Jiu Xie listen to him? Who masterminded the sprinkling of the stardust over Changsha? Too many people were involved, to experience a group hallucination. Was it all playacting for Ang Lou and Hou Wen Hai's benefit?

I don't think I could sit through Ep 29 and 30 again. Was the Storyteller telling the Ep 29 story twenty years later to the kids? Did he then revise the ep 30 story?

I fast forwarded some scenes in ep 28 and 29, especially involving Ang Luo and Huo Wen Hai.

Chen Pi was likeable in Season 2. In Season 1, he was very annoying.

😁😁😁 I think Lay Zhang did some martial arts scenes in his side story. His martial arts skills were underutilized in Season 1. Jeremy's one and only fight scene was well executed, as if he had trained at the Zhang Academy. Even Chen Pi did well.

The writing was muddled in the Otherworld Towers and Episode 29/30. Otherwise, the story seemed to flow in consecutive order. The flashbacking fit into the storytelling, and wasn't jarring, like some dramas.
