The cut to the couple naming the double waterfall in ep 12 was very abrupt. Are we supposed to know them yet, or are they just some random people from the past?

So getting 100% favorability from musheng is miao2's final mission to get back to real world. But why am I seeing little 99% on the logo 🤔?
I don't read the novel but i took a peek at the final chapters and it looks like they reached 100% in the novel. So the drama would probably end differently than the novel.
I mean, we already know, the drama has a slightly different characters setting than the novel (novel mu sheng is an actual fictional character that manages to jump into the real world and ended up being a corporate slave lol; meanwhile drama mu sheng has hints of somewhat having ties to real world). But this little 99% got me overthinking that something big is going to happen in the drama and miao2 is going to fail her mission somehow 🤔

Yes, that's why I'm wondering, to what extent/what are the rules of fu zhou's transmigration into the story is. Often times (at least from the dramas that i've watched so far) they don't really explore this, and just simply show the modern version of the characters at the end with no explanation and i just feel cheated that way 😅. It's perhaps just a 'me' problem cause lots of people don't have problem with open ending. I just think, transmigration stories with game system should have clear rules and limitations. Otherwise it would feel like they're just there as an easy plot device.

I have problem with fu zhou theory though. If musheng is indeed fu zhou who transmigrated as a character, the acting is a bit too real. The sister complex; the vulnerability as half demon in hiding; he takes all stakes a bit too seriously. In comparison, miao2's decisions are very calculative and the slightly delayed response is in line with the extra layer of her character. If he's indeed fu zhou, he must not be aware of/have access to the game system. Otherwise how could he killed her over and over, did they memory-wipe him over and over too? That's just too absurd. If he truly has the author's perspective, why did he try to send miao2 away? At what point did he transmigrated into the story anyway? Before, after, or at the same time as miao2?

Ding yuxi and esther yu's acting is very fit for the role, except that one part when they're in the reverse world and he asks 'you don't hate me?', she *shakes head*, *faints*. I had to laugh cause the fainting looks so fake haha. But other than that, i really like that they make an overused trope feels fresh and fun.

I used to unable to tolerate esther's cutesy voice and mannerism but here it works perfectly cause she's the type of character that you just can't hate. She's very aware of her surroundings and able to react quickly, a very high EQ type of character (you could say, the cute mannerism is her defense mechanism). Meanwhile, after watching MOTGA, seeing ding yuxi playing this grumpy half demon here is much more refreshing. I feel like, despite both being tsundere characters, his performance is much more relaxed as mu sheng compared to when he was acting as shen du. I just wish we could hear his own voice, but they probably has problem with his accents or something; as a non native speaker i don't have the full context so i can't really complain about the dub.

Overall, so far i'm really enjoying this. It fits my initial expectations for a light and fun period fantasy drama like BFTB. But I hope it won't take a nosedive after the second half mark like BFTB as well.

The gold toad demon definitely reminds me of no face monster from spirited away. Also the dust demons are very reminiscent of susuwatari (from both spirited away and totoro)

Mu Sheng is such a cheeky brat and definitely has some sort of sister complex. At this point Miao2's missions are basically catering to his tantrums and to keep his mood away from blowing up into a killing rampage lol.
The drama is pretty fun and and i love the humor so far. It's also very easy (both the story and visual) to watch.

Yep, that's why my immediate thought was that he must be faking it. The acceptance was way too quick and smooth compared to when he was doubting lan che in the earlier episodes. So he was smart but always careful with his decisions so far.

If lou mingye was not faking it when he acknowledged hua li as the childhood sweetheart then they're basically murdering his character lol

I don't mind that this show has comedic aspect. I love when gloomy shows surprises me with comedic breaks, if it's done correctly. Here though, it's the delivery that makes it unsatisfactory for me.

My theory about the weird comedy situation is: they're lacking a character like gong zishan (MJTY). Someone that's willing to commit herself to the comedy and throw herself (sometimes literally) into the scene. I suppose bai jiu is probably here for that purpose. But the actor is just too green to understand the flow... instead, he just, screams. And the choppy editing did not help. I don't hate the kid actor, i think he's brilliant. But not seasoned enough for the role, imo.

I swear they totally purposefully cast neo just to make that pun about him being a hou (monkey). And wellllll, the white face filter is here, but okay, i can accept cause they are not meant to be human. I still don't fully understand the worldbuilding but hey, it's only ep 3. Last time i saw this drama would have 24 eps but now it's 34 wow. I hope they quickly get over this weird introductory phase cause everything feels awkward right now. Hopefully future episodes will be better.

I agree about the comedy cause it feels... off... it's like, i know this situation is supposed to be funny but the delivery is just not there. Probably because the overall pace of the show feels slow, the comedic banter just lost it's timing sometimes.
It's weird cause in MJTY (sorry for the comparison), the comedic aspect actually feels on point, sometimes even being the highlight of the show, despite the overall somber tone of the drama. This one, unfortunately missed the mark. At least from what i've seen so far.

real. can't people just chill? sometimes fans blow things out of proportion and they force these celebs to behave awkwardly just to avoid controversies. it's inevitable to have conflicts and different opinions where there are a lot of people together in one place. we could argue that bullying did or did not happen during the recording of the show but at the end of the day, we did not know what happened beyond these edited clips. these people are adults and i believe if they did feel wronged, the victim and their team would be the first to voice their opinions.

wait uh... do people really ship these actors irl like... actually think they have a thing going on romantically? i thought the shipping in this show was just for fun, like, when i call them sunrise couple it was just like that, a couple who like to watch sunrise together. but romantically? nahhhhh, i don't think that was supposed to be the case. anyway i love neo but i haven't been watching the latest episode cause there seems to be too much drama going on.
probably just going to resume speed watching once it's finished.

I see, even the general color grading of the drama always leans toward cool tone. But the weird thing was that sometimes it makes the face and the rest of the body are of different shades and it's just really distracting to me 😅
