I know it's a female centric drama, that's why I put Wang Chu Ran first and Li Hong Yi second in the cast listing (though if we go by seniority, Li Hong Yi would be listed first since he debuted in 2014) . Well, it is what it is and I'm personally annoyed by those billings issues. I made this comparison with ZLH because it reminded me how heavily criticized he was during MJTY broadcast. Plus ZLH has no acting background as well and they both debuted in the same year (2020)
Lastly, I want to point out that many people think Deng Wei is the saving grace of 'Miss the Dragon' (him and Pan Mei Ye literally stole the show and I love Dylan Wang but even him couldn't save it...I only managed to finish it thanks to second leads story tbh and I'm not the only one to think this way...) Oh well, different strokes for different folks I guess.

(the 'cast downgraded' thing) Chang Hua Sen (3rd male lead according to this 🍉) is a rookie actor and I did appreciate his acting in AJTL despite him playing an annoying character) and He Rui Xian is a good actress imo and already acted alongside Li Yi Tong in 'Warm on a Cold Night' (I really loved her character in it) Are people seriously expecting top liuliangs to play second fiddle to the leads? Guo Jun Chen is already in 'male lead' territory. Let's not be greedy.
I'm a huge Cheng Yi and Li Yi Tong fan...I only want the best for them. That 'rumored cast' (yeah rumored) is far from being a calamity/disaster if you ask me.

Fact is people tend to be more attracted to morally grey characters/bad boys/villains. Why? Because most of the audience fancies those kind of characters (your pp proves it, Xie Wei was more popular than Gong Ziyu with the audience. Zhang Linghe even had to apologize on behalf of his character *rolleyes*...Gong Shang Jue/Gong Yuan Zhi were audience's favorites).
It's not that the acting is better, those roles just allow actors to showcase their range better. Goodie two-shoes characters are extremely difficult to play and are rarely liked by the audience because they're mostly seen as weak, bland and boring. Being kind/nice is seen as a weakness in our societies, that's the sad reality we're living in *sigh* As for me, be it a green flag or a red flag character, I don't mind as long as the character is well-written and that it appeals to me. As for Deng Wei, I'm expecting a lot of his haters to have a change of heart when this drama will air.
Zeng Shunxi is a decent actor (I enjoyed his performance in MLC) and though he may not be everyone cup of tea looks-wise, he has that charm that won you over. As a Deng Wei fan, it upsets me to see him dragged into this. This person is clearly trolling (stumbled upon one of her post in another thread, stirring things up) Best thing to do is ignore it.
