Yeah, I've also seen many people complaining about female characters lack of development or that the romance didn't go as they wished in the end. What did they expect though? That's a male centric drama and has been advertised as such to begin with...The story revolves around Luo Yunxi's character, Tang Li Ci. Therefore, it's a given his character is the most fleshed out out of the whole cast. Other characters are mainly here to serve as friends or foes during our hero's journey. Those friends helped him realized his worth, taught him humanity and allowed him to not succumb to darkness. Writing is not perfect (story is fascinating nonetheless but as you rightly stated complex *I sometimes needed to replay some scenes to better grasp the meaning behind their words , the message they're trying to convey๐ค ) but acting is flawless imo. We really lucked out with such a cast. Big shout out to Luo Yunxi/Alen Fang/Jeremy Tsui/Xiao Shun Yao particularly for portraying their roles perfectly and as if their rent was due๐
I only regret that this show didn't air on one of the big 3 (iQiyi/WeTv/Youku...*I know very well it was available on iQiyi and Tencent but unfortunately not in my region*) Mango TV subs are just atrocious and waiting for one more week to complete it was really frustrating๐ข
Still it's a 8.5/10 for me (waiting for your review๐ธ...as for me I'm too lazy to write one(english is not my first language hence it's very tiring and time consuming for me to write something that makes sense and that's why most of the time I give up on replying or write reviews)
My advice: ban or exile that scriptwriter from the industry. Her writing is shit. Don't blame the actors, they're doing the best they can with what they were given๐ฅฒ
Congrats to Yi Yang Qian Xi for winning the Best Actor award at the 38th Golden Rooster Award , making him the youngest winner in the history of this prestigious award.๐๐๐
I was in China this September and he's literally everywhere... Boy may be unknown to intl audience (mainly the ones who're only chasing idol dramas) but it looks like he is a powerhouse in his country. He deserves every bit of his success though because he's one of the most talented c-actor of his generation imo.
1. Sad ending/Bad ending 2. Slightly implied romance in first half to nonexistent in second half (I'm talking about the main CP here) 3. As for fighting scenes, Cheng Yi delivered as always.
I'm okay with that but then don't bait the audience with that misleading title 'Sword and BELOVED' ...better if…
Interesting...that name indeed fits better ...still intl audience won't go as far as searching for the original title in the end. Drama has been advertised as a romance (drama is part of the iQiyi heartbeat love series after all) and it didn't deliver on that front (I'm only talking about main CP here) I'm a romance sucker and had high hopes for that pairing after being pleasantly surprised by second part of the franchise. (Cheng Yi x Li Yi Tong was like a dream pair for me but unfortunately production had to ruin their collaboration with such a lackluster script )
