Typical romance
*The Best Couple* (2025) worked for me because the relationship between the **ML and FL** isn't a typical romance. From the beginning, Mu Wan and Ma Yu Ting feel more like two hunters circling each other, each waiting to see who will make the first mistake.
The **FL, Mu Wan**, has spent five years preparing for revenge, and the ML is supposed to be part of that plan. She believes she can control the situation, but what she doesn't realize is that **Ma Yu Ting already knows what she is doing**. That completely changes their relationship because instead of exposing her or walking away, he chooses to stay and play along.
This is where I really enjoyed the ML.
Ma Yu Ting isn't easily fooled, and he isn't the kind of ML who blindly falls into the FL's trap. He watches her, tests her, challenges her, and sometimes deliberately pushes her just to see how she will react. At the same time, Mu Wan is strong enough to push right back. Neither character completely controls the relationship, which makes their interactions much more interesting.
What begins as revenge slowly becomes something neither one seems prepared for.
The attraction between them is obvious, but underneath it is something deeper. The more Ma Yu Ting understands Mu Wan—including the hatred and pain driving her revenge—the harder it becomes for him to treat her simply as an enemy. And Mu Wan has the same problem. The man she planned to use in her revenge gradually becomes someone she cannot easily separate from her own feelings.
That's what made them such an entertaining couple to watch. **They don't simply fall in love—they challenge, calculate, provoke, protect, and slowly become emotionally trapped by each other.**
For me, the best part of *The Best Couple* is watching two intelligent, strong-willed people who think they are playing a dangerous game against each other slowly realize that neither one is going to walk away untouched.
**She may have spent five years planning her revenge, but neither of them planned on falling for the enemy.** ❤️
