Was not expecting all the sex scenes in this drama. Sex scenes in dramas are fine if they advance the plot or…
I think is explicit because it is Netflix produced. They have gone very explicit in their series lately. I have not seen a Japanese, or any asian produced drama this explicit. I started watching it on a plane not expecting the content to be as sexually graphic as it is and had to turn it off. right away because it is no way appropriate for that setting. I agree it didn't need to go that far but I think it probably boost Netflix's viewership.

Idk how I feel about the ending honestly I feel like it should have had more episodes.... at least 14....There…
I agree, it seemed like it was designed to be a longer drama and they just a rushed ending.

I have started quite a few C-Dramas but I don't think I have ever finished one. They tend to turn me off at some point, usually a weak FL, a formerly strong FL becoming helpless or just a complete a-hole ML. I have finished several Taiwanese dramas and they tend to be more to my liking.

I have watched 8 episodes and this drama is on pace to be one of my favorite dramas of all time. I was burning out of dramas lately until I started this drama.

What happened to the loan shark I must have missed the part about how the debt was taken care of and I don't want to rewatch. Can someone fill me in.

This was one the funnier K dramas for the earlier episodes .The humor was very goofy so I would expect it to be everyone's cup of tea but worth but I laughed but it kept me very entertained. Although I could have done with less bodily excretions . Unfortunately a large number of later episodes lacked in the humor department. Which wouldn't have been a problem if the romance would have picked up the slack. This didn't happen because I didn't find the chemistry or the those involved in the romance to be sympathetic characters with the exception of kang Hyuk and Bul Ja. I didn't get SLS because I didn't feel the FL deserved the SML. Unfortunately the ending only reinforced my feeling that this is not a good match. Over all I think this can be a decent drama to watch if you are killing time and will have some good laughs with a some long dry spells in humor.

You discovered the 2ML was not the ML? You must be some kind of genius...
If you read my post you would have realized I wasn't expecting a twist since I only watched a little over 4 episodes and didn't know for sure how it would finish but it seemed pretty obvious and predictable that the SML would not win the girl. I also felt it was likely the writers would try to drag the love triangle on to the end, I don't know if they did or not since again I dropped it. There was a brief time I was thinking there could be a Cyrano Debergerac style plot but again it seemed obvious early on that this was unlikely to be the case. I liked the SMLs over coming incredible adversity,, as well as his quirky personality and his wonderful job acting, more than his sad back ground.
You should first read and understand a post before you jump to conclusions and personally attack the the person who posts.

I watched this drama several years ago and absolutely loved it. I really liked how they did a good job with all the sub plots within the main plot. I am also a sucker for strong FLs and a fan of Ha Ji Won's.
I am trying to find it to rewatch but I am not seeing it on Netflix of Vikki. It says Kocowa but I have the extra Kocowa add on to Vikki and I am not finding it.

Thanks for writing this article it is a very important topic for dramas. I think there are 2 main reasons for SLS and #1 is not that the 2L is wonderful but that the ML is an utter A-hole and only shows minimal moments of decency. This actually is very real life, how many women have we known who have options of nice good looking guys but end up with abusive A-holes and keep going back to him regardless of what he does. Unfortunately this is all too common. which make SLS in dramas very realistic and more painful to watch . The other reason is that the 2nd L is a more interesting, person with a fascinating back story and choosing the ML is hard to comprehend this scenario is much less common and I am less likely to drop the drama over this especially if another love interest for the 2L pops up. I found the taiwanese dramaLove Now to be an example where the MLs became boring but the 2nd L's relationship carried the show.
I don't know if SLS is less frequent now, because I drop a lot of dramas, but I have learned to recognize SLS early on and drop dramas sooner than I would have in the past.
You mentioned Lee Seung Gi's drama for SLS and I have dropped more of his dramas than any other actor, not because I do not think he is a good actor but because he is especially good at portraying a prick. A strong FL would make SLS almost non existent because she would not put up with poor treatment by a ML.

Judging by your asinine response I am a heck of a lot smarter than you. If you watched the show from the beginning you would realize the emphasis was on the 2nd ML, whom I found to be much more interesting than the the character who emerged to be the ML. The ML was boring and lacked the depth 2ML hence I I was not interested in continuing on. if you couldn't understand what I previously wrote I will explain again. I don't care who the ML or 2ML is but the 2 ML was the better acted and written character. The decrease in screen time coupled with the increase in screen time of the uninteresting characters made it not worth it to continue.

I have tried watching this multiple times and have put it on hold. I keep picking it up because it is so highly rated and I like the actors but it hasn't been doing for me. I will see if I can stick with it this time.

I don't how people start a drama without knowing main lead .
I don't worry who the main lead is since I am not all that familiar with a lot of Korean, Taiwanese or Japanese actors and don't have a connection to thems but I do develop a connection to their characters and how well they portray them. This was an example how they did a fantastic job of developing the HJP's character and the actor did a wonderful job of bringing him to life. In contrast the ML was not as interesting or did the actor do as good of a job of bringing his character to light. . If the main lead"s characters and acting was as good I would have stuck with the drama but the most interesting character in the drama was getting phased out and I suspect he will not get an intriguing love interest to lift my spirits and make up for losing out in love. The 2ML was by far the most interesting character in the drama and not because of who the actor is but the writing and his acting ability.

I was very disappointed with this drama after a fascinating start. I dropped midway through the 5th episode after it became apparent that the 2ML was not the ML. I liked the depth they gave him overcoming a extremely difficult life to be a self made success who was able to give help the FL through the most heartbreaking time of her life. I would have kept watching but when they cut the 2ML's screen time the other characters weren't interesting enough for me to invest my time. After the promising start I thought this would be a binge watch but instead a bust.

From a westerner's perspective this is a very bizarre drama but strangely enjoyable. It is satirical in its depictions of male and female roles. I still don't know what to make of the reverse abuse that was part of the main plot line,. I have a visceral dislike of domestic violence but the drama is a satire and the males were in the position to end it if they wanted. This is a quick drama which you may have fun watching if you so not expect anything serious and don't take it literally.

Ugh pls stop making seasons. I don't want this to become the norm for kdramas...
Yes you are right but unfortunately I think they will since Netflix, Disney and Amazon are starting to throw a lot of money in dramas and they will use the American formula which you keep it going until people lose interest. Fortunately I do think that will take a while before that becomes the norm.

They definitely needed a season two since they left it unfinished. As people mentioned Kdramas with a definite end is what makes them superior to American tv which may have a great concept in the beginning but have to drag it on without any closure. I think additional seasons of a drama or sequels can be done well but they should be distinct so each has closure and can be watched without seeing the prior. I wasn't a huge fan of the 1st season, I do have a problem with cheating, but I finished because I was invested in it and was let down with the ending when it was obvious that I will need to watch a second season to get closure. This time I will wait until it is over and I am sure it will only be 2 seasons, I will not watch if I get the hint they are leaving it open for a third season.
